Ok, let's start here:
A. Who thinks this should be limited to the T/E/L & GVR4?
B. Who thinks FWD Colt/Mirage, RWD Starquest with 4G63 swap should be eligible?
C. Who thinks Purpose built RWD or FWD drag cars should be?
Or D - All of the above
I vote A and C. Although i don't think the VR-4's should be included. It should be only 1g and 2g T/E/L. If you included the Vr-4 then you would have to include any platform that also shared a dsm engine.
Now what are your reasonings for not including the GVR4?? It did come with a 14B and a 4g63 engine. It has the biggest disadvantage since its so much heavier.

Wow this thread is tough to keep up with!
Nate brought up a good point a couple pages ago. I suppose we're at the point where the classic, simple setup is nearly maxed out, and the next step to move the platform forward is to encourage more radical experimentation.
Justin, which clutch are you using?
Have you thought about putting a 3" Blox velocity stack on the inlet?
So moving on, since Dave brought up clutches. I'm in the process of getting a new disc at least, was trying to make a decision between six or four puck unsprung. Any reasons why someone likes one over the other?
Well it appears at the end of the day, we're just going to have to let anyone try anything. But in my book there will still be an asterisk next to some things. That's ok though, we're all entitled to our own opinions.

For sure.
You know what though, noone has.
I'm sure there are some with ideas in their heads.
But, there's also this:
What if they come out and can't even match the current quick cars?
That's a possibility. One that wouldn't be to fun for them.
And whatever gets ran that's completely outside the box, will catch extra flack from me. Just means we have to get ahead of the game to.

I would agree with you Phil. Original 14b car from the factory. Tube work is ok, but not a full tube chassis with a DSM body. Personally, as long as the car rests on the factory "frame" I think I would be ok with it...this meaning forward of the fire wall and aft of the rear suspension can be changed...otherwise it's overboard and out of the discussion. Motor wise, I say anything is fine the 4g family. Turbo must maintain the factory compressor/turbine wheels and cartridge. Port the compressor housing all you want and upgrade the turbine housing if you want, but the wheels must remain.
Precisely. The bar has been set quite high.
But, not from me
Some thoughts...
If it is an existing record, doesn't that mean the rules are basically already set?
To me, the specific drag records the majority of you guys are after are the: "Unibody 1g DSM 14b Record", or "Unibody 2g DSM 14b Record", or "Unibody DSM 14b Record". Mainly the "Overall 14b DSM Unibody" record.
Basic Breakdown
A Factory Appearing 14b in a Factory Appearing Unibody DSM using Factory Appearing Drivetrain Configuration, with NO other Power Adders, Factory Appearing Head/Block
Turbo-
-Wheel to Wheel Factory Spec, Clipping ok, Stock Appearing Compressor Housing and DSM Bolt on Turbine Housing
-Forward Facing, ok
Chassis-
-DSM with Factory Drivetrain Configuration and Suspension Mounting Points, RWD w/ Factory Appearing DSM Trans and T-Case ok. FWD w/AWD Trans ok. Rear End swap ok, permitting Subframe bolts into chassis at factory locations using Factory Appearing Trans/T-Case
-Modification to Chassis in Front of Front Suspension and Rear of Rear Suspension Mounting ok, as long as Factory Appearing body Panels are attached
-Tube Suspension Components ok, permitting they retain Factory Mounting Locations to the Chassis
Engine-
-Any Block/Head from Any DSM that retains Factory Appearance
-No additional/other Power Adders
Fuel-
-Any with above rules
IMO if you can beat Joe B.'s record following these rules it should be considered valid. I guess to sum it up (for a poor example) You could bolt a 14b on a Viper and run faster than Joe, its not the same record... This is a " 14b DSM Unibody No Power Adder Record" Anyone with me?
Not yet it hasn't
