Its scary that you can get one of these things down in the 2000lb range for a track car. I can only imagine it feels like you are strapped on to a missile with 1000hp sitting in front of you!
 
You lose 3 times the amount of horsepower through the friction of the slicks versus aero drag. We obviously see this through the trap speed of the guys on street tires.
 
For those who have experience pushing the 14b to the limits, do you feel an AWD thats completely maxed out with a great driver could even come close to taking the 14b record?

Yes, but it takes more determination, effort, budget, and patience than any of us are willing to give :

I don't put the money/effort into putting together a top 1% powerplant, just like Phil. But our cars kick 60' ass!

Pneumo put a great powerplant into a stick streetcar, and has no interest in a trailer queen tin can.

None of us have spent the big money on all the weight possibilities... Lexan, tube subframes, solid rear axle, FG body panels. No e of us have spent exhausting time on an engine dyno figuring out the ideal cam set, cam gear timing, or tried out different head porting/I take manifold sets.

We are ALL just pissing in the wind here, no one has actually put out much effort at all. Then again, this is a just for fun record, so that's to be expected.
 
Speaking of cam timing, adjustments there got me from something like 10.6 or 7x to 10.31 on the 16g, so it's bound to help on the 14b. Even just 2 tenths would be nice, tenths are hard to find once you max it out. And interestingly, I didn't even up far from zero at all on the gears so a small change made the biggest difference, bigger changes made it worse.

Like Nate, I say yes. As I said elsewhere, Joe's 6.99 1/8 time will definitely be beaten, it's that second 1/8. Nate has also always talked about the MAX effort. And, I agree again. Even though I'm raising my game for the next time out, I still won't come close to the MAX.

They're people here on the forum that could potentially get it. Guys on pretty much an unlimited budget..
It will take a build similar to this. Curt Brown always has some part in these small turbo record builds. Curt had the fastest stock turbo evo for quite some time.

Everybody is running 10's so technically speaking yeah it's slow. Once you break into the 9s shit gets real and you gotta work your ass off. It's the main reason I don't plan to stick on the 14b for a whole season. It's pointless to do with a car I have over 20k into.

Everybody is running 10's so technically speaking yeah it's slow. Once you break into the 9s shit gets real and you gotta work your ass off. It's the main reason I don't plan to stick on the 14b for a whole season. It's pointless to do with a car I have over 20k into.

What challenge was that great one? I'm not sure how you've got the assumption that my car doesn't run. I ran a 6152 on my 2l motor. Because its in my home state and I'm limited to 1 car on base? Either way that's a pathetic argument.

Good point Phil. So many people talk about building a car that's soo fast. Its all over the magazines, how a 10sec street car is slow. People on all the forums through around the term 10s street car, or even 9 or 8s street car. Well its all bullshit. Unless you got the slips to prove it #### off cause noone has one..

I went to the drag strip a lot this summer. Pretty much every weekend, trying to get my car in the 10's on street tires. Guess how many 8,9 or even 10s "street" cars were there. None. I was the fastest true street car there every time. Hell, almost everything that got out of the 12's was trailered, on slicks and open exhuast. ####, a lot of big block camero's on slicks didn't get out of the 12's. I guess an 11's 4 banger is slow. I never saw one single dsm at the tracks this summer, but supposedly everybody and there brother has a one that runs 9's.

Hubz, get your car running, and then talk some shit. Your like guys on my local board, calling me out in december, when there car is in pieces. I run the shit out of my cars, knocked 7/10's off my time, freshened the motor broke and built 2 transmissions, went tractor pulling, raced lots of motocross, pounded some skanks, and these guys still don't have a running car yet.

You must live in a shit area. Any of the local street racing scenes have loads of fast street cars. If you show up with a 11's car, you might as well be driving a prius.

And hell the last time i went to the track there were a good 4 or 5 street cars running low 11's or better. And this is at a shit ball track in the middle of no where. Two new camaro's and a sts v basically bone stock running 11's. With stock cars running 12's now, 11's really aint shit. The sts-v guys claim 11.70's right off the showroom floor. Any schmuck with a couple bucks could buy one and wax everyone posting here. But thats not the point is it?
 
To answer your question master, I have been low 12s in a full weight 2g on pump and street tires. Idc what you think of it. I was happy with that in a full weight car with 2 12's in the hatch.
