Well at least he has pictures of an actual car and not just fancy words.

Alright, so I'll try to not be overly critical. What are your ideas, if you haven't noticed most of us have shared the "secrets" around here so if unless you're Mr. super secret squirrel like the last guy who came in about to blow the record away let us know what you think. Looking at your build thread I notice you have upper and lower adjustable arms in the rear, agx's with some springs, RM racing rear sway bar, looks like you did the weld a washer trick for the toe elimination. I'm going to assume you're either planning on changing the suspension or those are just some pretty trick springs, I'd bet they're pretty stiff. Aluminum long rod motor with high compression pistons, everything looks trick and fresh in there, definitely not budget! So what's the rest of the power plan? Looks like you're heading in the right direction if you don't get sidetracked like most of the others. Only thing I don't agree with you on is that weight isn't important ;)

Oh forgot to mention new wheel bearings! Those aren't those uber dollar ceramic ones are they?

Static compression and the straight cut gearbox should be worth some power, how much??? I'm excited to see this run. I don't, however, see the 60's dropping below 1.40 simply due to power... We are only making about 300whp no matter what and some of us are literally coming out at full power already. I know my auto leaves at maximum torque...there is nothing left on the table that suspension/traction mods would gain significantly.

I decided to get started on the yellow 1g rebuild this weekend, maybe it's possible to run it this fall w/ 14b if I bust my ass!

the problem of driving LOL, i quoted you directly in post 2866.

I was joking around.....as in, for me an auto takes the fun right out of driving our cars. AUTO will be something you never see me do. It's just not my thing. If I were competing on a circuit throughout the summer, maybe, but that's it. And definitely not with a small turbo.

That sounds like an official "call-out" to me.

:hellyeah:

Not so much. If it was I'd say, "let's meet at dragstrip X" However, he's up here talking about everything he's got that noone in the universe has ever seen. That's like guys saying, "well, my friends' got a this and a that." However, I got no problems running anybody. More than a decade ago I used to hand 20G cars a beat down on more than one occasion with my little old 14b. You may make more power, but you need to know how to drive, end of story.

I hope it was calling me out. Car should be making a couple passes before snow flies. Waiting on my gear sets and clutch then its game on.

After all this, you'd better run a number, but, as with other builds in the past, you're waiting for something, it's always something. Toss a stock 5 speed in there with an old 2600 and get to the strip. Actions speak louder than words dude.

There's been ALOT of crazy 14b record builds that never made it to the track. So i guess they have the right to give people some shit haha

Exactly. I don't mind a bragfest, if you've done something noteworthy. So far, it's just been another parts list, THATS IT.

Reminds me of a funny story, awhile back we knew a guy who was stockpiling parts bragging about a big build that went nowhere, and a friend of mine said "You're the only guy I know with an 8 second apartment" ;)

Yep, less talk, more drag strip passes fellas. Somebody other than me going to make a pass this year?

Well we had a day planned for oct 7th. But it looks like my plans have changed, if no one has noticed the classifieds LOL. Priorities vs toys, priorities wins that one every time.

Bunch of local guys are running lapeer on the 7th, i'll still be there but with out my car most likely.

"you're the only guy i know with an 8 second apartment" ;)

haha ROFL

It's kind of comical. All you guys fail to see the fact that a built motor like this is going to make way more power than a stock block. I'll be choking the shit out of it the whole way. But it only needs to last a while as I have bigger intentions than a 14b. I built this car as if I was building a low 9 second car and that's all I have to say.

Please define "built motor"... Most of our motors are still making around 8.5 to 1 CR and use heavier rods/pistons, which only makes them slower...

Most people build motors to have a "fresh motor, which could hangle over 600hp" and NOT because they are trying to make more power.

What is next, you will add cylinder boring as displacement inclrease cheat? :)

There are always people who are looking for an excuse to invalidate a record. To me, run what you want, but disclose what you have and let people make up their own minds!

When I ran 11.6, people were calling my car "too light" (~2650lbs + 200lbs driver) and "too modified" (basic Stage 2 block with HKS 272 cams and Venom intake). 7+ years later, the reasons to dismiss my car are pretty insignificant... Or... are they? To a guy with a with a 3000 lbs car and a tired stock engine, they might still seem pretty extreme.

Anyway, just tell people what you have leave it at that!

I could be running straight meth for all they know. As long as I have a 14b with no nitrous it's still the 14b no nitrous record. They can piss and moan all they want but I might end up running straight meth for this.

Boy this thread blew up fast. Lots of talking no running yet. Every week I see progress on your car Cory. I hope it makes it.

I recieved my shims from TMZ yesterday for my fwd trans. Now its time to take of the 6262 and 14B this car. My plan is to take the car to the last test in tune this year on the 13th. I dont expect any record passes that day but the car should make some quick passes right off the trailer.

Fuel has always been open, same as engine mods. I'm not sure methanol has much of a practical advantage over E98. In my experience, methanol has been a significant pita with leaking an fittings and hose. Corn=wood?

IMHO, static compression, light rods/pistons, and absolutely perfected camshaft profile/timing are still going to be worth maybe 5% power...~15whp. Maybe 1mph or 2mph traps.

In the end the turbo is just so limited in airflow, there is little potential for significant power gains with only 30lb/min. Very stock engine hard parts can get 90% potential efficiency.

Not knocking anyone but this is fast becoming a bench race thread. "Put up or shut up" is what they used to say.
No sense Saying this and that maybe you will maybe you won't. Just do what your going to do. Then talk.

Is it really bench racing when you know how the car is going to react to your setup? In my mind bench racing is these guys saying "IF" I do this or that this "Might" happen. I see lots of if's in here and very little for sures. Just my point of view.

You guys seem to forget, the dreaded Hondas are making 250+ wheel hp on a 14b at 14 psi. And SOHC at that. Don't forget what kind of compression they are ;)

Hrm...14b on my red streetcar for a day? I bet I could knock an 11.99 out of that.

Or but ass and take yellow from a bare shell to a runner before November?

BOTH! Do it up!

My point exactly. There is no point in talking about something you planning on doing and knocking others. If your doing something and know what your doing thats cool. But ifs & maybes & mights are pointless.

Progress and results are what matters.

If anyone up here has the most recent 14b activity aside from Shane's blast into the 11's, it would be you Nate. And with that, I agree with the above.

So then again it comes down to weight :thumb:

Yep.

Dont count me out to fast Phil. Ive been gathering all the parts before throwing on the 14b. After my long chat with Joe the other day, is when I decided to throw on the 14B instead of my 6262 for our last race. We maxed out an evo3 16g here with our elevation. I dont think Ill have any issues with the 14B and a lot lighter car.

I'm not gonna speak for anyone else, but I could give a crap about some Honda Civic.
