The engine shown in the picture isnt mine, i have the stock plastic 2g BOV

Made the tester as described in another thread. Connected to bottom of IC piping instead of turbo intake. Not holding any pressure until i had someone else pressurize system and heard air coming through the tube from the bov back to the intake pipe. After covering it, it held pressure. If i let off all the air came straight through the tube, I wasnt able to get the pressure gauge to reach 10 psi all system pressure bled off through that tube like bov wasn't doing anything or was stuck open?

Is there any fix if the BOV is stuck open?

Are any BOV's better than others? Greddy type S? stock 1g?

I'm hoping to eventually get the car to around 25 psi of boost, so looking for something that wont have a problem holding until then.

Thanks for the replies.

1g bovs are a dime a dozen man an will hold a lot of boost. I agree with him though i think they have a eight pound spring yeah doesnt take much to kick that open.

The 2g BOV clamps to a round port on the stock UICP. If you plan on keeping the stock UICP, they sell 2g-to-1g BOV adapters. The picture you posted is a 1g BOV, and you can kind of see the two silver parts of the 1g BOV flange sticking out the sides. The adapter clamps to the stock UICP and has a flange for the 1g BOV. I think the adapter is $30, and a used 1g BOV can be had for $25 off eBay. Unless you're running above 19-20psi boost, you wouldn't need to crush the 1g BOV. You can also do the "Dodge Garage Mod" to the 1g BOV to keep it from leaking at higher boost levels. I also recall seeing a thread about remounting the 2g BOV so that the port going back to the intake pipe and the port clamped to the UICP are reversed. You might try searching for that, too.

Most folks upgrade their UICP and get one flanged for either a 1g or Greddy BOV.

You can't crush a 2g bov (and expect it to still work) and you shouldn't crush a 1g bov because the Dodge Garage mod is much better. I would suggest getting a new UICP (upper intercooler pipe), they are anywhere from $50-$150 and can be flanged for any bov that you would like, nearly everyone will tell you that a 1g bov will be perfect for a moderate street car so that is what I would look into.

If you are short on cash and want a little more bang without dipping into your wallet very much you should be able to use a stock evo 8/9 bov without replacing your UICP but the stock UICP is a restriction in its own right so it is a sound investment to purchase a better one. You will also need a cone filter in order to fit a different UICP which also happens to be a cheap (and potent) performance mod.

yea found out i cant crush it, so new uicp should fix it, and when i said it was leaking, i meant almost no pressure and it was completely draining it all within seconds of stopping. ill look into the uicp was thinkming of getting a 1g bov or greddy btw, also is it bad to run the car if its not holding any boost pressure?

2g bov's are pure excrement. Get a 1g bov as mentioned here many times, and crush it just a little. Wonderful little bov that can be had for cheap these days.

It's true about not having to crush the bov until higher boost levels come into play but i crushed mine in my previous 2g and had no problem with it.

Look at the pic people, he already has a 1g BOV. They usually leak slightly, but the air shouldn't all be rushing out. Having your boost controller T'd off the BOV line could make the BOV not hold quite as good since the boost controller has a small vent hole (necessary for not having big boost spikes). Pinch off the line going to the boost controller and see if it helps at all. Also, take the BOV off and clean the valve off good, spray some wd40 or something on it and try again - I've had that help me before.

Re-Read his post... Focus on the last sentence.

I agree that crushing is a viable option. The Dodge Garage mod is an alternative, but you loose the quick release feature of the stock 1g BOV (pressure from inside the IC pipe helps crack the BOV open...the Dodge mod redirects this port to the atmosphere so you only have the intake vaccuum to crack it open). If you're careful, you can crush a 1g BOV and increase the level where it pops by several psi. My unmodified 1g BOV pops at about 21psi during a boost leak test. When I can increase boost to the point that this is a problem, I will crush it rather than doing the Dodge Garage mod, because I probably won't pass 25psi boost spikes.
