Tachometer not working

what up guys,
i have a 1998 gsx now i just bought it but the tachometer isn't workin and the speedo is off im not sure where to start diagnotics with this one any help
it has a bad altenator and just had a tranny rebuild (worked fine after rebuild happend month later during the same time the altenator was going bad) so im not sure if that has something to do with it or not any help would be great.

there is two reason this happen to me

1 you have the wrong year ecu in there

2 the rpm wire in the ecu is no good

have you checked the fuses? I know it sounds dumb but it's the easiest thing to check that would make it stop working. I know my tach stopped working and it was just a blown fuse.

Haha what fuses would i be looking for is there even a fuse for the tach? and all my other guages work except the speedo is off ...?

Hey did u ever figure this out ? i am having the same problems as you. and i checked all the fuses and nothign still

no i have no idea im away so i havent even got a chance to look at it yet

ya i looked at it and it was a hack job near the fog lights prev. owner cobbed up the wiring and there was like 7 shorts but i fixed it and it works now
