supporting the motor

i was planning to remove the balance shafts during the timing belt change. you have to remove the pan so where do you support the engine? thanks

You sill have the front and back motor moutn along with the tranny mount. You shouldnt need much more supprt. If so you may have to get a support that they use at like a tranny shop that sets on your strut towers. Or just use an engine hoist.

An engine hoist would be the best. There should be some lift brackets on the motor where you can hook up to.

An engine support isn't worse then a hoist. It stretchs from fender to fender, and you just hook up to the motor supports (just like the hoist would).

If you don't feel comfortable relying on just the 3 other mounts, then you can use a jack with a piece of 2x4 on the edge of the block where the oil pan rests.

If your oil pan is of you can use a 2x4 that reaches across the motor and use a jack to hold it up from the bottom works great and you don't have to worry about messing anithing up

you could always just bolt the drivers mount back up while your doin the bs removal, then just use the oil pan when you do the tbelt

That worked for me when I did a front case gasket set replacement. I was doing it over a couple of evenings and didnt want to rely on the other mounts. You can never be to careful.
