supporting mods

Hey guys I am looking to build up my car a little and would like to know what mods I need.

I wish For 300-350 hp but still keeping the car as my daily driver.

Here is what I have:
misi evoIII 16g
560cc injectors

I need a list of what I need and what parts do you guys think are best .

if you look down on this page they've got a list of mods to get up to like 300 then over it...i'm pretty new to these cars but it doesn't seem like a 350hp daily driver would be out of the question

i'm not sure where to get most of the parts from, maybe someone else will chime in with their favorite vendors?

I forgot I also have a cat back

How much power would I be looking at with my 16g, 560 injectors, cat back, boosting 16, and then tuning it.

I still need the mbc hard piping and the tune

Read up and perform the steps that have been mentioned before on this thread, get it tuned and take a trip to the dyno, It's anyones guess on what you've got right now. Have patience man, you'll get there!

Pick up dsmlink v3 lite or possibly ecuflash/evoscan, Punishment racing/VRSF front mount intercooler kit, and an evo 9/walbro 190 lph fuel pump, a wideband as well. That should be a good starting list of mods to collect for your power goal.

16g is a good turbo for your goals. Hes Pretty dead on here. Scoop up dsmlink and get a nice tune on it and let it eat!

The evo will be a good choice but, it depends on a healthy engine, and a good tune, dont go throwing stuff on the car and cranking up the boost without, proper tuning supporting mods. Oh yeah a fmic. or a supra side mount.

A metal headgasket and ARP studs would be nice, in case of future upgrade. It might be overkill though.

I would suggest to go ahead and upgrade ## fuel pump and rewire it also if u have a chance!!!

Oh yes I forgot, throw some arp head studs in there to clamp that head down. You can install them 1 at a time without removing the head. There is a thread on how to install them using this method somewhere on the website. I would do some testing on your motor like a compression test to see where you are at. It will be a little more difficult to reach your goals if somehow you have low compression. Factory service limit is around 130 psi.

Pick up something to log/tune before you do anything.... DSMlink V3 was my choice.

That is not proper as more cars end up leaking oil from the head gasket than actually and in the end you will have to do it right anyways. Pull the head and install the studs.

I am going to do a full tune up on the car first. It really needs new belts (the skreach super loud)

everything that's on there so far: Cat back, 16g, And cone filter my good friend did before i bought the car.

like i said earlier though i do not plan on going over 350 hp so do i really need the head studs?

So dsm link is better than a SFAC?

Cover the basics first before worrying about your end results.


I suggest do more researching and studying what you need to know about these cars, maintenance and before big additions, get your supporting mods.

Cheap route: EvoIII16g, Full Exhaust, Intake, Evo8/9 Injectors, MBC & Boost Gauge, Fuel Pump at least a 190walbro rewire it/evo9 pump rewire it, Wideband, SAFC.

or

Good Route: EvoIII16g. Full Exhaust, Intake, 650cc injectors, MBC & Boost Gauge. Fuel pump (above), Wideband, Logger, DSMlink/ECMlink, Suspension, Cams,..


Both suggestions will get you to where you want to be.

I am planing on forking up a lot of money this month on a tune up


plan on Replacing: plugs, wires, belts and pulleys, timing belt and any bad hoses.

also my fps has gone out so i will replace that to.

560s are good for your goals however, you might want to consider upgrading the injectors incase you get a "mod" bug and want more performance down the road.

I already have the mod bug.

I started with a 96 corolla that started with 92whp I got it up to about 135 whp and figured I was just wasting my money.

But so far I am having a blast with this car.
