Hey everyone i am fairly new to dsms and have been reading a ton on here to learn everything about everything. i have decided that instead of getting an evo3 16g and being disappointed down the road that i am going to go for a 50 trim. I have searched around but have not been able to find a definite answer to the supporting mods needed for a 50 trim. i realize that i need to do all of the things that are in the stage 1 tuners guide, but what are some really inportant things. like what size injectors and will it be ok for me to use safc and pocketlogger or just man up and spend the extra cash on dsmlink and an eprom ecu. basically i am going to do this step by step because of funding so which would be the best way to go about it. thanks for any and all help. if i forgot anything just let me know.

needed would be as follows:
Fuel pump(255HP suggested)
AFPR
660's or 720's to be safe
FMIC
some sort of fuel control(I would man up for dsmlink to give you much better tuning ability and control)
I think that covers it? but i may be missing something

Like you've read, follow the upgrade path.
I run a 50trim at 21psi daily. If you check out my profile you'll see my setup.

Since your profile says you're bone stock.....

Here's my suggestions, in stages(hope I didn't miss anything):
1. K&N style filter and Boost guage
2. Upgraded IC pipes(read # 10 below concerning the IC pipes) with upgraded BOV(your choice)
3. Catback exhaust
4. Downpipe (with or without highflow cat)
5. 255pump and a AFPR. Depending on your goals, you can use a 190 high pressure. It will work fine but why not just go bigger since they cost the same. Don't skimp on fuel.
6. Boost controller(I prefer an EBC)
7. DSMlink and injectors(go big(850's) since DSMlink will handle them perfectly
8. 50 trim(you'll have to decide on internal/external gate
9. While intalling the 50 trim, port the 2g exhaust mani
10. FMIC(If you get short route piping, it will be a waste of your upgraded UICP's(#2). You can resell them if you like or get a FMIC that connects to them(ex. Greddy FMIC))
11. Clutch is probably in order by now....LOL

I'll only take you up to step 11.

My first investment was a logger and now I wish I wouldn't have wasted the money, since I now run DSMlink. DSMlink is just a better investment in the long run, with much better control.

Good luck

And i hear it all the time that the new guys on the block want ot go big right from the start. I was completely happy with my evoIII16g and speciallly if you new to DSMs u dont quite know the potential of the EVOIII16G. But never the less VBGSX's idea's a good one.. cept i dont quite see the need to spend 60 more bucks for 850's which on a 50trim he will never fully utilize. IMHO
Good luck
and also if you would have checked here first you would not have to ask this question

I agree to a point :D But.....
you and I both know the performance bug will come around and bite again...LOL I'm already planning my next motor which I will definitley use the 850's....hahahaha I'd just prefer to do it once.
Oh and
FIC 650 $288 set
FIC 750 $306 set
FIC 850 $315 set
That's just one site. I'll have to look around at other's prices
Very small difference to me :thumb:

Granted he is not as likely to upgrade or plan on build another motor right now cause of his status and understanding of these cars. He said he is fairly new. And think about the ? he asked. But maybe i was a little off on the price diff LOL..

thanks for all of the replys. i may be new to dsms but not to moddifying. before i even got the car i was on this site reading into the wee hours of the night when i should have been studying just to gain better knowledge of what i am driving and what i will be doing to it. the E316g was my first choice for a turbo upgrade but i have decided against it since my ultimate goal is around 330 awhp. i figure i can get there more easily with this turbo plus it will take be beyond that whenever i am ready.

i have already done all of the free mods and have a boost gauge. the next thing i was going to get was brode uicp and a 1g bov then a mbc. i know it is better to have the short piping for the fmic but is it that bad to have it go through the stock location? also how big is the intake inlet on a 50 trim. i ask because i was originally going to get the extreme psi intake kit but i do not think that will work. i guess i will have to go with a dejon tool or forced performance one.

right now i am just getting a list together that i can use to go by. thanks for all of the help so far.

I wsnt trying ot down ya jsut from the way you posted the ?.. most guys try to go big right off the bat instead of learning the potential of a little smalelr turbo is all.. but you can hit 330 with an EVOII16G with a set up CAMS.. i have personally seen 312whp(fwd) stock motor. So it can be done. good luck

yeah i did read that on here, but i guess that i just feel that i will want more in the long run so why not just skip the middle step and save money. you know what i mean. plus this is going to take a while anyways because of funding and the fact that i am in my last year or so of college. Just curious though what kind of competition do u have with the e316g. as in what other cars do u play around with at the track or street (if u play on the street)?
