I recently bought a 1995 mitsubishi eclipse gsx auto off of ebay. The person i purchased it from said it had run fine a few days before he posted it on ebay then died.I hauled it home and charged the battery tried to start and all i got was a click from the solenoid and the starter wasnt engaging. So i yank the starter bench test it and everything showed fine.So on to the next step was to troubleshoot the wiring and relays.Everything checked out good.So i hook all the wires back up with the starter out of the vehicle and voila it works. Now im confused as hell.Should i just redo all the wiring, grounds and terminals and put it back in?Or could it possibly be a locked up motor.Just curious if anyone else has ever run into this problem. Thanks

Its possible that one of your wires or relays had a bad connection. It could be a number of reasons that it didn't work on the car.

First thing I would do is try turning the motor over with a breaker bar.

Well my luck with dsm's still haunts me again.Found out it wasnt the starter but a siezed crankshaft.I knew something major was wrong when i took the belts off and i was able to remove the outer ring of the crank pulley with one hand.Cant say that had ever happened before. Now onto decisions for what motor to link up to the auto.
