Amsrn13. Are you running any kind of restrictor on your oil feed? I tried a straight 4an off the ofh and had oil leaking on the hotside. Ended up running a .090 restrictor to stop it.

The Forced Performance oil filters contain the proper restrictors for the turbos you install them on. I would suggest protecting your turbo with a filter anyway since it's usually one of the highest cost items in a car.

Im going to run the fp filter but its only a .125 restriction. Idk if it will be enough to bring my oil pressure down

I ran my jb red unrestricted -4an from the filter housing on a balance shaft deleted engine without issue.

Most people with issues running high volume through the turbo have rtv blocking part of the drain, or a lot of blowby in the engine.

No rtv here. Only gaskets. Leak down test is only like 2 perecent. I was running a straight fitting into the turbo too. Now with restrictor and banjo fitting its all good

So I dropped the timing and increased the boost and the engine feels slower, Do I need this timing because of the meth? I feel like when I drop the timing to 16-17 the motor feels dead. I lost 80hp off the top when I lowered the timing. The good news is I compression tested my motor again and im 150 across the board. I cannot believe how tough these motors are, its incredible. Anyways, im running a ets street intercooler and its says on the site 450hp, I purchased the ets race 10inch and dropped my block off at rrt motorsports in canton ct. I need more power!!!!

Have you verifed your base timing is dead on? I'd increase the boost to low 30's, get the afr spot on then add in timing. You might end up at 20 degrees or 25(crazy but you never know). Maybe your car is a freak

Like mentioned above, drop timing, then add boost, while watching afr. Making more power with boost is much safer than more timing, you are trying to keep cylinder pressures safe for your cast rods and pistons.

Also on meth 11:1 is on the rich side. Id try 11.5 to 11.8. Some go leaner but i always had the best results at 11.5

S2 cams, stock intake manifold. Ethanol but was running same boost on pump gas. Ran about 9 degrees of timing after peak torque and 6 at peak torque. Ethanol (being extremely Safe) 9 at peak and 14 across the board up after peak hits. Car moves. Guessed 430-450 on pump, guessing 500ish on ethanol, 11.7 afr on E 10.8 on 93Oct.

I cant believe how much timing effected my motor, like i said before my best pull was 27psi on the fp black with like 20 degrees peak timing spraying 50/50 boost juice on a #5 nozzle devils own kit. The hp estimate was 523 and 450 torque. minus drivetrain loss it said 450whp 350 torque. Like i said Im aware thats an estimate. The car doesnt feel faster with more boost. I had it at 29psi, flowing 50lb/min and dropped the timing 5 points. Im still using the street intercooler so i dont know if thats a bottleneck. As soon as the race intercooler comes in im gunna retest. I thought that the point of spraying meth is timing......more that is. YOu have a denser air charge, cooler temps and higher detonation threshold. The car freaking rips, I took my built sti out and it felt very slow. I thought that a good indicator of whp is airflow or 10hp per 1lb/min?

Thats a good point, im going to recheck my base timing. I just install a set of gsc s1 cams and had a timing light on it quick. Maybe its off

No I don't pull happens too fast to really worry. It's almost enough power but going to put together a built block this winter/spring just for reliability purposes. I love getting on it in second and having the car get tail happy tho i've been running 40psi from the start. Mainly due to two bad mbcs til I traded for a hallman then just kept the tune rich and started raising boost til I felt like it was enough and then adjusted fuel accordingly. My fuel setup is definitely not shabby so i've never worried about going lean on me. Wally 450 rewire, -6an feed, fuelab stainless steel filter, stock rail, 2150s, aeromotive afpr, stock return. Ets race 3" core

im running pte 1000cc currently, im really starting to think the street core isnt big enough for the air im flowing. Im still running a rewired 255 but I have the walbro 455 in another hanger ready to go when i get there. I have basically the same setup as you fuel wise, 6an tfe lines for the ethanol, flex fuel sensor etc etc. How long have you running 40psi without grenading that shit. The 4g63 continues to amaze me, I think the bad rap these cars get is from guys hacking the shit out of these poor cars. My car has been nothing but good to me.

The car feels slower, cause it is, after dropping the timing. Right now we just want your stock block to stay together until you get forged parts in. But if you really need to feel the power, keep the timing high, its your car, haha.

It is all about the previous owners screwing up the cars. I've been fixing janky crap since day one and not finished yet. I've been running 40psi since March I believe. Started ethanol right after the shootout tho. Yea the street core is not up to par at all. I had a punishment racing core on my car to start and intake temps of 140 on a third gear pull made me buy a race core instantly. I've kept timing low really and been letting boost make the power. At first I was running my ethanol timing table as my pump gas table but once it started knocking for me (3-5 degrees) it was time to scale it down to make it safe. Pretty much kept it rich and lower timing is what's keeping her running. I run brad penn 10-40 or vr1 20-50 also for oil so I think that helps also

I'd definitely recommend tossing the bigger pump in and getting at the very least the 1680s high z or whatever they are from fic for injectors. The 2150s are great tho but depends on how much injector you want to play with.

The clutch will hold. I'm running a southbend kit on my car right now. It's all about torque rating on the clutches. I've launched my car twice so far and it flat spun til I lifted and snagged second then off we went. Pretty much simulated a drag run 1-4 in what I think is 1/4 and when I lifted the log said 119 but speedo said over 120 so the black definitely makes power. My buddy on pump gas last year (fp black 38psi, 9 degree of timing across the board, street tire 25psi, 6k launch no antilag, bc 272, stock bottom end, vrsf core, internal gate) 11.77 at 119.86 with a 1.7 60ft. I'm taking this car to the track on Oct 30 during a private rental so i'll have unlimited passes to get everything dialed up before really giving the business to the girl

To be honest guys, this has been just an experiment for me. Im new to tuning with dsmlink, Im not the type of person to just get in my car and rev the shit out of it and hope for the best. Im constantly monitoring my afrs, temps etc...I know that this can only take you so far as anything can and will happen. I honestly dont really care about the power per say.I just wanted to see how far I could push my engine without blowing it up. I need to clarify something, when you say 9 degrees across the board you are saying from peak boost meaning when your buddy hits 38psi on its all 9 degrees

Can't hurt to drop timing and increase boost. You just need to make sure your injectors can handle the boost. Also yes, 9 degrees of timing at peak torque til redline was all at 9 degrees. I have 9 at peak torque right now and increasing to 14 to redline. I can add more timing but I don't really feel the need to. I'll let this cooler air (PA) make the car be faster.

This was my third gear pull not even to 8k about 10 minutes ago. Peak injector duty was 66% at 7200rpm. I'll post another pic, seems this cool weather let the turbo get 41psi at 5500

I have a 30psi gauge. The needle goes to the second dot and I really want some wiseco HD pistons but I need to send my spare block to a machine shop so I know it's 100% all good and that way I know what size piston to buy. I'll be running them on a set of manley i beam turbo tuff rods because I like to build once

I meant to ask you guys, so I keep trying to adjust my damn iac and im having trouble. What do you have to ground? diagnostic or timing or both? what do I need to log beyond iac? its the only thing I keep having trouble with

Fp black and in link in the misc tab, check diagnostic and timing and then adjust the isc til it is around 750. Trying to shoot for 30 at idle but sometimes it doesn't happen. I just adjust it til I'm happy with my idle (850+/-) log iscposition

Yea they probably are extremely close. Pick up some high z injectors that are bigger than you think you need and you'll be good once that 450 gets installed
