starter stopped working

I currently am at the end of an engine build on my 1995 gsx and i went to start the car it turns over and everything, but the second time around going to start it the starter started to make a vibrating sound and would not turn the engine over. I have power inside the vehicle and everything. I picked up a new starter and put it in and same thing happened. It started to smoke a little bit also. So i brought the starters in and had them tested at autozone and they both passed. I also Had a brand new charged battery. Even with the starter hooked up to the battery and not bolted up to the car nothing happens. Now i am currently going over the wiring and making sure everything has a good connection. Any ideas what could be wrong?

The only thing I can think of is double check your wiring. Did you check the fuses and relays? I doubt it would be this, but it could be the ignition...just a thought. Hope you figure it out.

I would check the wireing too! I had this problem and the MAIN GROUND for the battery was loose. so if your starter wiring it good, check the battery
