i have a 96 eclipse RS non turbo with a 420a engine. problem i am having is after doing a engine and transmission swap the speedometer was working for a while then one day went to crank up the car and it stopped working. i changed out the speed sensor. nothing, tried to change out the cluster nothing. took it to a auto shop but there computer system wouldnt connect to the car. i need some ideas of what could be wrong. I have been looking up to see if there is a relay that could have gone bad but cant find anything on it. any ideas anyone? thanks!

is there anything else that doesnt work? or just your speedo? could be that its just a wiring issue or the connector to the sensor. look inside the connector for bent or broken pins

Start with the obvious fuses. If those check out check to make sure u have power and ground at the connector. Also check the condition of the connectors as well

thanks for the help yall. i already checked the pins and connectors they are good and yes the speed sensor i made sure was for that car. i will have to check the wires but i am not sure which fuses go to the speed sensor and speedometer. but everything else works but that.

When you replaced the speed sensor, did you buy the full sensor including the gear which goes into the trans? Rarely happens, but the gear may be extremely worn. Worth a shot
