I'm going to get a block, and start building it up to turbo my 420a.

I know nothing about building an engine, and the block I'm getting is used from someone who hydrolocked it. First thing I want to do is send it off to get honed and machined, but I'm not exactly sure what I need them to do to it. and I don't want to do this and get pistons that dont fit right because it wasn't honed to spec.

So, what exactly do I need to do? I need as much information as possible because as i said, I have no clue what I'm doing.

Not trying to sound like an ass, but please just ditch the 420 Hydrolocked. Too much hassle and what not. Find a 4G63 and you will be in heaven.

If you're saying to swap a 4G63 into my car, that's way too much hassle.

the 420a in my car isn't hydrolocked, I got a hydrolocked block out of a friends car that I'm wanting to tear down and build, so I can still drive my n/a as a DD while I'm building this other block, so once the build is done, I can just swap motors.

I don't want to sell my n/a for a 4g63 either because I can't afford the price difference right now and suck at saving money LOL

Usually the only problem I have seen on hydrolocked motors is bent connecting rods. While the engine is out you can send it to the machine shop to have it cleaned up and make sure you can still use stock size pistons depending on what the cyl walls look like. If its lower miles and been cared for you can probably get away with a good hone and use the pistons with new rings and of course new connecting rods. Then you can have them check the crank and get the correct size connecting rod bearings and main bearings depending on if they have to turn the crank or not. Hydrolocked motors vary greatly depending on what was going on when they locked. Was the car idleing or going 70mph. Basically you would be taking them the engine and have them tell you what it usuable and what needs replaced and with what size. You can always have them bore the block out if you want to pick up a little power by going with over size pistons. Hope some of the info helps.
