i have a problem with oil consumption due to smoke. its definately oil because its bluish. so my car smokes as soon as i start it up, especially when its been sitting for a few hours. its smokes on accel and decel from what people tell me. i can't see it because i'm moving. smokes very little on idle but its there. if i rev in neutral it smokes but mainly when the rpms are dropping. every single take off that i do from a stop light, it will smoke. compression is also pretty low at 125-135-120-115 . what do you guys think? thanks

Because you say it smokes after letting it sit counts my vote toward valve seals.

Exactly what I would suspect. Valve stem seals are usually a culprit when the motor's at idle or in decel. They're a wee bit of a pain to do but it's worth it.

With respect to your compression numbers, make sure you test the motor when it's hot (as in just driven) and ensure that you hold the throttle plate open while cranking. If the numbers still come out low pour a capful of oil in each cylinder and re-test to see how much compression rises.

Please post back with your results,

Andy

it is a 1991 eagle talon tsi awd. 173K miles. the compression was a hot test. the only mods on the car is a 16g turbo and buschur racing 3" turbo back exhaust. nothing was ever done to the engine rebuild wise.
