slow starting on my 2.0 turbo!!???

hey,
i have a 92 awd turbo and it doesn't start right off the bat, i was wondering if this is normal? it has had alot of work done to it. its got new plugs and wires, rebiult cylinder head, timming belt and water pump, and a new ecu... but still doesn't start very well.. it cranks enough to wear you get scared and think its not gunna start and all of a sudden its starts and idles up... when i first bought the car the ecu was bad and we got it replaced but its sat for a year and he said it had hard starting before the ecu went out which he thought it was just the ecu going bad... but when we put the ecu and fired it for the first time it did nothing but crank, so after awhile searching i just got pist and just let it crank and after a few cranks it started to fire but wouldn't start still then after about 5 minutes of cranking it started like nothing was wrong, it doesn't do this now but it cranks enough to scare you at first then it will start and run fine..... i do have a check engine light and i didn't get this till after installing the head and i think it was the camshaft position sensor or crank shaft position sensor... will this have any effect on starting or is this just a normal thing for 2.0's ??? thanks alot, Cory

Yes, its a possibility that it can be ur camshaft position sensor or crank shaft position sensor, but before you get into that make sure you dont have any fuel leaks anywhere. I had a problem where I had a fuel leak and I would loose fuel pressure over night and would take a bit of cranking before the car would start up.

Your power transistor is on its way out or your ecu capacitors are causing a short. Very common 2 problems I just mentioned. Sean

where is the power transister located ? it better not be the ecu its only acouple months old

Near the coil. Do you have a service manual?? You should get one. I had an ecu go out on me in less than a week.

it could still be plugs again, i had a problem like this earlier and finally it would barley start and wouldn't even move and i took it 2 the dealership and they replaced the plugs and wires and it was fine, even tho i just replaced the plugs no more than 50 miles earlier....NGK BPR6ES i think...let us know wut fixs it ^^

I have a 90 TSI AWD and i had the same problem. After i installed a 255 lph walbro fuel pump it went away. I havent had a problem since with starting it.

thanks for your help guys! a friend of mine replaced his fuel pump on his with a walbro 255 also and it helped his so i'm guessing its just not getting enough fuel pressure? i plan on selling it in a few weeks should i worry about it ? i wonder if a fuel pump rewire kit would help it any ?? thanks again, Cory

yeh i have a '94 talon ES that needs a new fuel pump...u have to crank it for a bout 5 mins then it starts and idles not 2 great...
