Hello People,
Well Iam about to start on my project. Got 6 bolt block, crank, and 1gn piston rods But dont know if they are the big rods people say are? all parts I have are out of 92 talon AWD so I think that they are but not sure. so Im thinking of 10 over stock so that I have the chance of boreing it 2 more times. balaance the crank and maybe shaveing it too. well thats pretty much for the bottom end but open for sugg.. On the top end of things Iam thinking of 1mm oversized valvenew 272 intake and exhaust cams with adj. cam gears and I am perrty much stuk here for now any kind of input would help.. well thank you for your time..This forum is one of the best in giving and recieving info about any DSM....

Well if the rods came out of a 6 bolt then they are the big rods. Both the turbo and non turbo 6 bolts had the same rods just different compression pistons. The crank doesn't need balancing its balanced from the factory. If you could get away with just having it polished that would be the best but it might have to be turned, it depends on its condition. Have your local machine shop inspect it as well as the cylinder bores to see how much they should be bored over. I would recommend putting 2g pistons on the 1g rods because they have higher compression 8:5:1 or maybe some forged pistons. It depends on your budget and power goals but this would give you a pretty stout bottom end. As for the head is it a 1g or 2g head? You don't really need adjustable cam gears unless you were getting 280s.
