So, I've finially found a contact who can teach me and supervise installation of aftermarket parts on my DSM. Here's my list of mods I've currently installed to show you my foundation.

Greddy 3" cat back // Apexi 2.5-3" downpipe // MSD Wires // NGK BPR6ES(gap .028)// Dejontool UICP // 1g BoV // ACT 2600 // ACT Xact flywheel // Greddy TT // MBC // Boost Gauge

With those mods I am running the lowest boost my MBC is allowing me which is 15psi and I'm creeping to 16-17 psi while still on the T-2Slow. My car is yelling at me MORE FUEL as I'm in high RPMS, so that is what i'm giving it.

I've ordered: Symborski Shiftkit, B&M Short Shifter, Wideband 6-1 UEGO A/F gauge, SAFC-2, Walbro 255, FIC 650s, Palmpilot, PocketLogger ODBII. I sent an extra Throttle Body to get bored and P&P to 63mm as well. I havn't picked the brand of turbo/manifold I want, but I am leaning towards a 50 trim and it's counterparts.

My contact who's been helping me out lately informed me that I won't need an AFPR just yet. I believe him because he's been doing this for many years and he basically runs a shop out of his garage. This is the one thing I'm iffy about. Is it necessary to get an AFPR asap with this application after I tune down to near stock fuel pressure for my t-25?

I'd love some insite and debate on my setup if i'm going on the right track or not. I read this site constantly about things I'm doing. Let me know if i'm messing up at all and what I might want to consider turbo wise or next mod wise.

Thanks,
Sean

If you already have the parts and ordered the other parts, it is a little late to ask for a debate on your setup. The only other things to ge are FMIC, external wastegate, SMIM and cams.

I suggest that you get an AFPR with a fuel pressure gauge for that 255 pump.

I can always send them back if there's a better choice out there or I made a big mistake. I felt like this was a pretty good step and I wanted to check with other enthusiasts on the move I made.

NGK BPR6ES(gap .028)

Whats the pregap on these things at? Do people suggest .028 gap or something?

I did a search on "gapping" And i found an article or two how people generally gapped their plugs. They listed the boost lvl and the gap perfered by DSMers. I'm running around 15psi so i gap to .028 If i were running higher i'd gap to .025. That is what i got from the article atleast.

Actually if you were running higher psi and had more mods, you would use 7ES not 6ES. More info here - http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=239375

I also suggest a rewire
Why? The pump will flow more than enough without a rewire for a 50 trim setup on 650ccs. http://www.roadraceengineering.com/fuelpumpflowrates.

You do need an AFPR with a fuel press guage. The 255 will over run the stock fuel press reg. Also set it to 43psi off boost. Also the more mods you run the colder spark plug you would use. The general though as for gapping is that .028 is a happy medium, the range is generally from .026 to .032. Yes what Dee said is true, there is a spark plug faq http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=233421, the higher the # the colder the plug. As for your injectors it all depends on the octane you will be using, and if you plan on going higher boost. If you use 93 then 18psi for those 650s will be fine, high IDC, which will kill them sooner then with a lower IDC, the higher injectors the lower IDC therefore more tuning room available. If you go higher then 650s, you will need to get a DSMLink. Also you will need an FMIC, external wg, and cams like Dee said. As for your intake manifold it all depends on what kind of driving you will be doing. If you want to breath at high rpms a lot then a SMIM would be good, if you want lower end, and middle range then extrude hone the stocker manifold, also port the exhaust manifold, o2 housing....that is if you dont get tubular's. Also what kind of Tb are you going to be using? I saw you said you are having one bored out to 63mm. By FFWD? Also the n/t TBs are good for over 500hp, and thats what a good amount of people use with their SMIM, i believe project_tsi is using one...but I could be mistaken on that.

I'm just using the throttle body from a turbo dsm. It's identical to my own i have in my car now. I used throttlebodys.com for the 63mm transformation. I do have 650s atm. I'm goin to shop around for AFPR sometime this week and grab that also.

I havn't looked into cams/SMIM at all. Honestly, I'm not even sure what a SMIM is. I tried searching and I only found the abreviation SMIM not the full word in the threads.

I'll mostly be keeping this car a daily driver with monthly track visits with friends. The turbo/manifold and wastegate will be my next step after i get all of these parts installed and save up more cash. Would anyone like to toss some suggestions at me for the best combo for the three of those?

SMIM = Sheet Metal Intake Manifold. www.jmfabrications.com makes one for $450 and it is very good quality.

For a manifold and external gate setup you first need to decide if you want a exhaust manifold mounted gate or an o2 mounted gate and then go from there. SBR makes a good exhats manifold with a flange for a 38mm Tial wastegate. www.122performance.com or www.straightlinespecialties.com or www.slowboyracing.com or www.victoryperformance.com sell o2 housings with a flange for a 38mm Tial then can recirculate back into the exhaust if you don't want to do a dump after the wastegate.

As for turbos, pick and choose. I like the PTE 5031RE Dual ball bearing 50trim turbo. www.dejonpowerhouse.com has more info on their website.

If you don't want to have high IDCs, you can step up to 750cc injectors. Everyone will recommend DSMLink for everything that it offers. You will need an Eprom ECU for DSMLink, but you are looking at $550 for the link, $250 for an eprom and the socketing service. DSMLink offers timing control and fuel control.

When you use an SAFC/logger with bigger injectors, the SAFC lies to the ECU and makes you run further away from stock fuel maps. There are many threads about this, do a search and you'll find more info.

the rewire just ensures consistant fuel pressure and its better to be safe then sorry
I agree. A rewire will give consistant voltage leading to consistant fuel pressure, but it will also increase the fuel flow of the pump.

Some more info... http://www.jayracing.com/products.htm, in the description of Bosch Motorsports Fuel Pump # 0 580 254 044 - In comparison, the Walbro GSS341 255 "high pressure" fuel pump can support 390 BHP Note: Values calculated at 12V, 3 bar (43.5 psi) base fuel pressure, 2 bar (29 psi) boost pressure, 1:1 fuel pressure regulator ratio.

I thought I would give yall an update on the car.

I actually spent a little too much money and now I'll be broke for about a month. But i LOVED IT!

I even added a part to the list. I picked up a set of 16" 205/55/16 rims/tires. Those made an immense difference. Check my classified for my previous rims/tires they're there.

Everything I listed has been installed. The car runs like a dream, better than it ever has before. There was actually a point while tuning where I got scared. I wasn't use to it pulling so hard.

There's only 1 little boost leak left(super small barely hearable under 10psi), it's on the sensor on the bottom of the Trottle Body. (I can't remember the name of it). But I believe it's just because there's a screw missing and that'll be fixed.

Next money bomb = AFPR first. Then FMIC, Intake mani/turbo/wastegate and probably an upgraded BoV to go with the FMIC. I'll have plenty of time to research how, where, which, when to do everything before doing the purchase and instalation.

Any comments, questions, or concerns please post them.

Alright, I thought I'd update my progress on my ongoing project.

I installed my Aeromotive FPR and set it to 43.5. That install was a doosie come to find out i ended up spending even more on the kit because not everything came as listed.

I picked up some 3g lifters. Goodness, what a difference it makes in the engine noise. Purrs like a kitten and no more rediculous, embarassing noise.

I picked up a AGP t3/t4, tubular manifold and a tial 38mm wastegate from a buddy DSMer for a good price I couldn't pass up. Finally installed them and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. The install wasn't too hard, took a little over 2 hours with some customization needed for the Return line and LICP. Ended up buying a buddy's greddy LICP and making a custom bend to go over the motor mount.
I'm currently running around 16psi solid. She still needs a good tune, which will come wednesday when I go to the track.
The external dump tube is insanley loud. I love it. I had people jump and duck when it went off as they were walking down the sidewalk.

I'll be posting pics of the engine bay and car in general in my profile.

Next on the list is a FMIC and cams which will probably come early next year.

Any questions or comments please feel free to leave em.

PS: I can vouch that a 50trim > t25 :thumb:
