I plan on getting a pair of slim fans for my 97. Ive seen the fans between the condensor and fmic. Im only going to be running a big 16g, so Im not to worried about the room. I would just like the look. I would figure it would keep it cooler also.

Has anyone else done it this way? Dose it work very well? And I would figure the fans would have to turn in reverse to work on the other side of the rad?

I've done that on my 1G and the only way you could fit the fan is to install it on the condenser/before FMIC... It is less efficiernt, but works... Make sure this particular fan spins in the right direction???
Just flip the wires, if needed..

i personally would just take out the stock fans and just replace them but keep them in the stock direction and i would get a aluminum radiator while your at it

Stock fans flow better than any ebay fan just wire them both up to start with your radiator sensor and save your money

With stock fans, you are more prone to having fitment issues. But since he is only running a 16g, I would think the stock would be fine until he want to upgrade in the near future :). My car runs at 185* with those two slims fans so I don't know if the stock fans would cool it much better.

OP-If you have the extra $, buy the ebay slim fans and run them. Looks cleaner and allows a little extra room.

Sandwiched will hurt flow a lot. Fans mounted on the front of the radiator towards the FMIC will hurt flow but less. Fans mounted on the back side towards the engine are less likely to hurt flow and cools better with a shroud.

Stay away from eBay fans. Compare CFM with stock, name brand slims, and the eBay slims. Chances are the stock fans will push more air than most slims and the name brands will be much more than eBay and a few names will push more than stock

I have two 12" ebay fans in my car. I've never had any issues with them. My car runs right around 170* with them. I overrode the switch and put a manual switch under my dash as well. All in all $45 for everything.

I ran sandwiched 12" ebay fans on my old dsm. Fitment was real tough for the pusher fan (fan in front of the rad) and I actually had to trim it a little to make it fit. Either way I had them on the passenger side of the radiator with no fans on the driver's side and they worked fine.

Actually it stay cool just fine with the single 12" puller fan, but since I had bought them both I figured why not use both.

EDIT: BTW I think the ones I had were rated around 1200cfm.
