Six bolt or Seven Bolt

I know that this has been on here before and i still dont know what to do.
I am looking to buy A new 2.3 stroker any day now. I dont know wether to go with the six bolt or the seven bolt cause of the crank walk issue.

I like that the seven will be a bolt right up thing and no misfire issues, But i dont like the thing of my motor crankwalking with a 2000 or 3000 Price tag on the motor

my seven bolt motor just crankwalk at 128000 miles five days ago and i have the motor and tranny out already just dont know which 2.3 i want

i am a newbie at the posting and where i should post at so i am sorry if i posted in the wrong spot. I just would like some advice.

Well as always is stated Any Motor Can Walk and alot of peopl on here will say 6 bolt but I'm kinda at the same place you are and I'm going back to the 7 bolt. Its just all up to yourself. I myself am dropping a 7 bolt back in and then building a 6 bolt later for IF my new 7 bolt walks. If it doesnt walk then when the 6 bolt it built the way I want I will drop it in and do something else with the 7 bolt so that I always have one motor out of the car and one in it running. Just all up to yourself on it. But crank walk is over rated.

If you can get a hold of a 7bolt from the 97-98 spyder then you are good because it uses i think a 3-piece thrust bearing. Also the only reason so many 7 bolts walked was because of a defective bearing which wasnt lubricated enough and failed as far as i know. So building a stroker with good bearings will most likely fix the issue. Many will also say that a 6 bolt is better because the 7 bolt had lighter/weaker rods. But if we are talking a built motor then the stock rods arent there anymore right? I say go with whichever one you want or can find cheaper. With proper assembly and maintenance, either 6 or 7 bolt motor can last pretty long putting out respectable numbers.

They are both the same price at right around 2200 to the door for just the bulit short block 2.3L

if they are the same price, go for the 6 bolt stroker. as for parts, what kind of crank/pistons/rods will they be using? and what kind of work will be done to the block. 2200 to the door seems like a pretty good price for a well built bottom end

i payed 2300 out the door because i had them put a new oem oil pump on it

3 weeks for bulid time

I had to put half down

and i went with the seven bolt

i heard you can fix the crankwalk issue by making the oil feed hole bigger. never tried it though but sounds like it would work.

I would just use the 7bolt that uses the 3 split thrust bearing.. thats what I did to my 95 GSX, My 95 bottom end didn't crankwalk I just choose to use one out of a 98 Talon, and that had the 3 split thrust bearing... I guess its pretty much for you to decide if your gonna go with the 6 bolt or 7 bolt. I know most of the members on here are going to say to go with the 6bolt
