I didn't know you didn't have a cage in that car. Are you putting an 8.50 cage in or just a roll bar?

They got on us at joliet this year about safety. Everyone was way faster than what they were teched for. They told us we had a 2 tenths buffer. My car is good for 10.0, but for some reason they only teched me to 11.50. I was lucky and got by-runs till the finals.

Are you doing driveshaft loops and axle loops? we are supposed to have them, but I've never seen the axle loops before.

Yeah, I never had a cage. My local track isn't very strict which is how I was able to run what I did without getting the boot in IFO. I am having Diamond Race Cars in Ohio do a 8.50 10pt cage. Should be able to take it there in a couple of weeks.

I am going to do a driveshaft loop and also an engine diaper. I haven't heard or seen axle loops either.

Found some wheels I've really wanted. 15x8 TE37's. They are currently wrapped in brand new M&H 26x8.5 slicks however i'm going to have to eventually swap these out for DOT's so the car is class legal (IFO & Shootout).

I need brakes next....

Also was able to drop it off last night at Diamond Race Cars in Ohio for the cage. 10pt 8.50 with kirkey's and parachute. The chute will be removable so it can still appear to be a stock body street car.

Dang didn't that have clean black leather? Are you going with carpet or just spraying the interior with the cage and leaving it race car?

Yeah, it had a super nice black leather interior. The car will still have a full interior with carpet and rear leather seats. Only difference this time around will be a cage and front kirkey seats. Factory front seats were close to 100lb for both, the kirkeys are 11lb each :)

Picked up the car last week from the cage builder. It came out really good. Fitment is excellent and very tight to all the panels and roof. I'll get some photo's this week of it (it was dark and I left for TX2k as soon as I got it home).

Hoping to get some time by this weekend to paint the cage and get the interior back in.

I thought that too until the first time I had to go under the dash. Holy hell it was terrible, Mine comes out but it's not a normal swing out, it unbolts at the floor, and pulls out of the main hoop. I just have a 5pt 10.0 bar though.

Hopefully with an auto you won't need to be under there much.

Yeah, going under the dash is hell. I dealt with the same thing with my last car. If I have a big project i'll just pull a seat so I can lay down haha.

I think I remember you posted what rpm you said you spun it to for the 9.9 run...was it 8500? Plans with the new turbo to go higher?

Amazing build b00sted! What's your end goal?
Thanks! Don't really have a goal in mind. Maybe run 9.50's consistently and win some races. I'm pondering throwing on a larger BW SXE turbo like a 66 or larger and seeing if it'll go 8.99 towards the end of the season.

I don't really remember where it was at rpm wise. It was probably around 8500 if I had to guess. I'm hoping to stay under 9000 this year if possible. I may throw on the English racing oil pump sprocket to reduce pump speeds.

Awesome man! Jealous of that paint and your cage!! Nice to see we are both still rocking with some progress! Keep it up!

Looks great Scott. I just ripped apart my interior and stripped out all the deadening. Trying to figure out if "coating" the floor with a black bedliner is going to be much heavier then just spraying it a flat black.

Thanks man! Excited to see yours finished as well!

I'd just spray it black. Unless you plan to run carpet, then don't even bother like me. Lol

Looks super sick man. I decided not to run carpet. I think when I read this build all the way through originally - you had mentioned about a less heavy carpet replacement.

I had ordered the CE 8 point cage through jegs. Only $235 shipped. I've never gone through with a cage on a chassis... is that why you had yours done at a different shop? Are the permade bars hard to work with? I'll have all my precut pieces with gussets and 1/8" mounting pads.

Is your car buttoned up power plant wise? Season is going to start soon up here. Can't wait for some more motivation

Thanks sir. I bought an aftermarket black molded carpet from Rock Auto (ACC is the brand) which I removed the padding from underneath. It only weighs a few lbs now.

The pre-bent cage kits are cool but I prefer a custom tight fitting cage that I can have done to my liking. I also run a full interior so i'm not sure the pre bent would allow that.

And yes, the car is running and driving. Powertrain wise all I did was the turbo kit back in fall of last year :)

Yeah, I hear you on the tight fit. I'm going to look in to the carpet on rock auto. I've been contemplating cutting the rear seat bottom in half; and leaving the back of one seat behind the passenger. the idea would be to make a 3rd seat for my daughters car seat. But with her being a tall 3 year old, and seeing that cross bar- it might not be too smart to try and squeeze her back there.

I don't do social media but somehow you have to let me know when you make some passes. Briggs colt is the fastest dsm I've seen in 5+ years :(

Pashko has my block and head and I'll be dropping off my 2.3 rotating assembly as soon as my girdle gets here later today or tomorrow. I hope I'm out before the shootout LOL

Cool man! My shop is in Pashko's complex. Stop by sometime.

Just wondering, why are you selling the TE37s?

I'm the worst when it comes to keeping wheels LOL. I need a DOT tire for the classes I plan to race with, so I figured i'd see if anyone wants the whole setup. I could use the money for a few other things like a better oil pan, driveshaft, etc.
