I recently purchased a used DSMlink V2.5 from a trusted person here on DSMtuners. I am debating to install the DSMlink V2.5 for now to learn how to use it. Otherwise, I'll use it to directly upgrade to ECMlink. My GSX has different sized injectors than the GSX the DSMlink had been on previously. Plus, in the future, I'll be upgrading my injectors again when upgrading my turbo and cams. I was told the size of injectors can be configured with DSMlink V2.5, yet that any time I disconnect the battery (or it goes dead) that the system returns to the original size setting. In contrast, exchanging the DSMlink for the ECMlink ($175) would prevent this injector situation (in the possible case of my battery going dead, or disconnecting). The ECMlink also has much more to offer, but I probably would not be using much of it for a long while. Briefly, my GSX's components would be a 6-bolt 2.3L stroker, 2g head, a FP Big28 turbo, 850cc injectors, 263 cams (for now), a 2gMAS, and an ETS FMIC system. Although I am a novice, I'll have help in learning either choice by local, experienced individuals presently using each version. I have little intensions for going beyond around 400whp. The thoughts and experiences of members here are much appreciated!

That all depends on if it is worth it to you. There is more functionality with v3 but v2.5 works fine as well. If you want to extract the absolute maximum power for your setup, link v3 would probably be your best bet.

Download the v2.5 software if you want, it's super easy to use, but you will be switching over to ecmlink v3 software sooner or later. So you can start with that too if you like. Doesn't really matter.

Jim, as Eric and I have said before, I think upgrading the V3 would be a good thing if you can. There is a lot of new functionality with V3 that is very helpful. And I'm a big fan of being able to disconnect the battery and not lose my settings.

As for the learning aspect, you will use the same skills on V2.5 as on V3, but you will have the option to use new skills with V3 (Direct Access tables). I recommend if you get V3 to pick one or the other to use to tune - the sliders or the tables. And I'm a bigger fan of the tables. It's up to you, but know that Eric and I prefer tables :p

Are you sure you know what you mean? ECMlink is the company that makes dsmlink....

Since I'm easily confused, I checked to see if I had been confusing, but this is what I mean. I welcome more ideas.

ECMTuning, Inc.

Thanks for all the replies for me to use for my decision.
