dsmlink v2.5 with v3 update

i heard that you can use dsmlink v3 with your old v2.5 chip, is this true. also if it is true can i run on speed density like that?

Everything that is supported by V2. Clearly you don't get SD or direct map access. I switched just for the new datalogging interface.

Nope you need a serial to usb converter cable, the keyspan is most widely used.

Again sorry for resurrecting a long dead thread i have ecmlink v2 in my 1g and just purchased v2 for my girls 2g but no serial port or cable. Is it possible to upgrade without the serial port?

I cannot speak for ECM Tuning. Their site is quite specific about including the OBD II adapter that originally came with the v2 package. Unfortunately, they had to implement this requirement due to dishonest business practices from others. Feel free to contact ECM Tuning regarding your specific concern.

You need the 2G OBD-II adapter to be eligible to upgrade. Without it the 2G DSMLink is pretty much useless.

Yea i have a 1g i was unaware of this serial port for the 2g obdII i have emailed thomas in hope of a resolution hopefully i can send the ecu into them for verification and a upgrade as i need to also upgrade my 1g v2 as i had it for years and it's time to upgrade
