shifter totally locked up

still messing with the shifter on my car.......cannot get it to go into any gear...the shifter is completely locked and will not move. I did find one gear by working the levers on the trans by hand, but it was apparently too high a gear to move the car from a stand still and it just stalled out....it seems like the trans itself is still good, but something is bad right where the shifter levers go into trans keeping them from moving.....any ideas? any thing I can look for, or a way to inspect before I commit to taking trans out of car......I dont want this to be something stupid simple Im missing and pull the trans for nothing...

Have you gone to remove the cables from the SHIFT and SELECT points on the tranny and see if those two units are still free?

IF so, then up in the cab you need to go in the shifter area ..

PRocess of elimination, sounds familar but my cable bracket broke, no gears sounds a lot different hope for the simple stuff.

Yes I have removed cables....shifter itself is fine. The issue is definitely in the trans somewhere. This car has seen alot of hard pulls into second gear, and shift fork is what Im leaning towards right now myself too, does anyone have an exploded view of this trans? That would be a big help....Bracket is good as well....
