What are people running for shifters on road course/autocross DSMs? Are you using the stock shifter, a shortened stock unit, the 3KGT shifter, or something else?

I’m asking because I’m planning to set my car up for road course and autocross events (while still daily driving it), and I want to upgrade to something more robust and performance‑oriented than the factory shifter. I’ve been looking at the KDN shifter, but I’m not sure how well it works in these environments since it seems to be marketed more toward drag racing.

Does anyone here have experience with the KDN shifter? How do you like it?Any pros/cons?Do you think it’s a good or bad choice for road course/autocross use? or is the factory shifter work just fine?

Both the KDN and Fatboy Racing shifters can be purchased without the lockouts, both are substantially more stout and rigid than the oem shifter even with new bushings, not to mention upgraded cables.

I personally have the Fatboy shifter, I only drag race it currently but I have street driven it too in the past and it was really nice.

Personally in you case I'd do all new bushings in the oem shifter, all the pivot points, solid cable bushings and solid trans cable mount bushings, that makes a world of difference on the oem shifter. I didn't like any of the short shifter add ons, I just shorted my oem shifter a hair and it worked great.

Thanks for the input. All my bushings etc are fairly new, I did recently order some bronze bushings for most of the shifter cable and brackets so we will see how those change feel. I also have an ultra rare LOL..JNZ 3KGT shifter I could use also.
