For road-racing it would be beneficial to avoid "heal-toe-downshifting" with the equivalent of SMG or F1 as i've used on my E46 M3 and F430GT3. However, a full "SMG"-like setup (swapping out an EVO TC-SST) is $$$ prohibitive. Wondering if anyone has tried DIYing a bargain "SMG" like the Nissan SynchroRev (i.e. with ECU coding) ? or a sequential-shift setup ?

Thanks!

Nissan synchrorev is not just coding, it needs sensors on the clutch, PID for air and gas control, and of course Drive by wire Throttle.

I don't want to be pessimistic but, everyone is using the traditional method of Drive by Driver rev match... So, i think that synchrorev never will be implemented for DSMs :(

Personal opinion is that the best scenario here is to use an Automatic transmission fully modded with a shiftbox on your DSM :D

(sorry for my/if broken english)

Thanks for the insight TAMA_player ! We have a clutch sensor but no eThrottle so that's probably the biggest barrier to implementing SynchroRev -- auto trans is an option but might as well do the EVO TC-SST change at that point.

Yes, you can rev-match downshift yourself ... it's just more convenient!
