My shift cable seemed to have separated and broke. Is there any quick fix to this while I wait on my new cables to come in? I need to be able to drive my car in the next couple days. I searched on didn't find much, only that this is a common problem.

Is the sheath separated from the cable at one of the ends but the inside still ok? IF SO, then pull the sheath around the OUTSIDE of the cable end and clamp it down with a hose clamp. This is by no means a good fix but it can get you by. My DD Saturn SC2 did that at the track (yeh I know, Saturn at the track??) so I had to do that quick fix to get me and my son home and that has been a year ago. I have new cables but it is still working fine.

The outside braided shield probably came out of the cable end, but you would just have to look at both ends.
