shifter cable probelm

Hi guys i was wondering if you could give me some advice

I was driving the other day and my car stopped shifting...
I got it home and start tearing into it and i see that the boot on the left shifter cable is loose and its moving in and out of the bracket as well because because the e-clip fell off.

i put a new clip on and mounted it back on in the correct position, but now my car is struggling to get into gear. I manually shifted it and it goes in first and second fine and drives, so i know its not a tranny/ clutch issue.

but the boot with the little screw is loose and i see a small tear in my cable now :/ can anyone help me, i need some advice on how i could possibly fix the boot without hopefully changes my cables because i have heard its a nightmare ! any advice would be helpful thanks

Had this happen to me and over time it gets worse and worse until one day it breaks, that sucks! I used a vise grips one time for a 2 hour drive home! Anyway fact of the matter is there going to need to be replaced. I ordered mine off extreme psi for like 100 bucks. And there not that hard to put in at all. Everything just goes on how it looks.
