Shifter cable problem

So I was driving home tonight and my car wouldn't engage into 1st 3rd or 5th got it home and the shifter cable looks tattered on the transmission I just recently replaced the shifter cable ends with the bronze bushings. My question is my car is a 90 gsx is it year specific for shifter cable or will any year 91-94 do?

You can even make the 90's cables work, however its easier to use the ones out of the 91+.

Even the 1.8 TEL's use the same cables.
