I got a set of used shifter cables yesterday that are from a 90, which I put in my 91 that has all 90 shifter parts in it (it was a swap). I laid the cables side by side and they looked to be the right length. When i got them in the car I put the tranny in neutral and now the only way I can hook up the forward aft cable is if the shifter is in like 4th but way further back which makes me think the shifter cable is shorter. It is the one with the white insert. What could be wrong? Thanks.

I just took out the cables to compare them again and noticed that the one causing me trouble has a housing length about 1 1/2 inches shorter than the one that doesn't work. how do i find out which cables are which? Is is possible I had 91 cables with a 90 shifter/tranny or are the cables I got 91-94? Anyone have any lengths?

I think that the shift levers on the transmission are different as well. Don't quote me on this.

What made you want to shift to 1990 cables?

It had 1990 cables on it, everything was from a 1990, trans, shifter, etc. I don't know why one cable is the same, then the other one is different from the one that came outta the car on the ones i just got.
