Hi,

The shifter cables on my car are all adjustable in two directions, except my 3rd gear cable. Which isn't adjustable horizontally. I don't know if this is causing me the grief in 3rd gear engagement that I am having. So I was looking for advice on wether or not it's common for 93 Tsi's to have a 3rd gear shifter cable with only one direction of adjustment. Also if there might be any chance someone may still have or be carrying OEM shifter cables for sale.

Thanks.

Not exactly sure what your trying to say. There are 2 styles of cables on a 1g. On one style both cables are adjustable. On the other style only one cable is adjustable. On both styles the adjustment only allows you to make the cable longer or shorter.

From the nuetral position gears 1, 2, 5, and r require both cables to engage. gears 3 and 4 only uses 1 cable. However you 2nd to 3rd shift would need both cables, your 3rd to 4th shift would need only 1. So if you had a bad cable it would cause more than one gear to have difficulty engaging.

hmm, its just my third gear that is engaging ruff, it can be engaged smoothly but you must engage it extremely slowly and with a slight offset to the right then what you'd expect to be the normal engagement route. I was thinking it might be just the 3rd gear cable as from what i hear. the shifter cables on DSM seemed to have varied lengths by each year. and im makin the assumption that i may have a mismatched cable to tranny.
