Well, because of space and money, I had to make a choice. The Evo or the project car. Well, I sold the Evo. The choice was simple..I got $20,000 for the Evo and I would have had to give the GSX away......
So, now I have money for the GSX. So far I have a new turbo ( Evo 16g) a new radiator ( mishomoto), a over bored throttlebody, Evo fuel injectors, a Evo IX fuel pump, and a freshly rebuilt head from FFWD.
The head has all Evo parts ( springs, retainers, rockers, valves) and DKS cams ( 264/272). The Evo parts are supposed to mild upgrade over the 2g stuff so we'll see. Darren from FFWD was not impressed, but the Evo stuff is much improved from my stock. stuff...
Over the winter, I am looking to rebuild the bottom end. I already have a set of 1g rods resized for the the 2g crank. The thing I am really conflicted about is using aftermarket forged or just the standard 2g pistons. I am not looking to make huge power ( @ 400 hp)..If the price was equal, i'd go forged.
As far as the clutch goes, I am really leaning towards the Exedy stage 1 organic. I had one in my Evo and it was a great clutch. Hundreds of drag passes and everday drving with no problems. I am not sure if the DSM one would be comparable...
I am looking towards next summer for the car to move. I will really be interested to see what kind of numbers the car will put down. I plan to dyno the car and run it at the track to compare it to my Evo's numbers ( 340 awhp, 12.5 @ 112 mph).
