Reusing Engine Oil? Possible?

What do you all think about reusing engine oil?
I installed my e16 and I found a small leak. There are 0 miles on the new oil I just put in. Do you think it's ok if I drain it to fix my leak and reuse it? I would of course make sure the oil drain pan is 100% clean.

Reusing that oil is not only a good thing, it'd be stupid to waste perfect oil.

If the oil doesnt have any metal shavings, sure why not.

I, personally, dont like to re-use oil, but if it doesnt have any miles on it, I dont see a problem with it.

I dont re-use oil. If there arent no shavings like 4G63-GST mention I would think it would be ok to use. But I still wouldn't because how much is 5 quarts of oil. I can get a 5 quart jug of Mobil1 at Walmart for $20. But i don't know thats just me.

If you're just fixing a leak at the turbo or the return line, there is no need to drain the oil, just jack up the front end and there should only be a little oil drip from the return line and nothing more.

Remove the line from the turbo and keep it elevated above the filter housing, only down side is new crush washers from hardware store for $.50.

The leak is coming from where the oil feed line connects to the banjo bolt. And there's no way I can fit a wrench in there, so I'm taking it off to stick in a vise and screw the oil line on tight. So that's why I need to remove the line completely.

Your return line is not connected to your filter housing.

Technically, if the oil has never been used, then it is not possible for it to be re-used. You don't need to drain your oil to remove the turbocharger.

You can remove your oil feed line from the turbo. Just make sure you keep it elevated above the oil filter housing, and nothing will leak out of it. Even if you let it lay on the ground, not much will leak out of the line.

You can disconnect the oil return from the turbo also, and you will be fine as long as you keep the line facing upward.

Yeah, I knew what you meant. I was just giving you a hard time.

Correct. If you remove that line from the turbo, the only force that will cause oil to come out would be gravity. Just ziptie the feed line to something on your PS pump. That will keep it up high enough to make sure nothing will come out. It will definitely not be a flash flood of oil as long as you don't try cranking the engine with it disconnected.

You'll have to use it before you can re-use it. Yes, it'll be fine. You may now obsess over the next piedmont of trivia, and have that $10 in oil savings available for a candy bar and a coke at the movies.
