I was looking in a magazine and they said that Pacesetter made a header for the turbo. Does anyone know about the quality or performance of the header?

ok guys, here it is i bought a pacesetter header laugh and flame as you will. I bought them before i researched them.

anyways, as soon as i got them i had all the welds reinforced, i bought 4 layer copper gaskets, both from turbine to header, and from head to header. then i stripped off that rust prevention paint and painted with blue high heat paint w/ ceramic. i then baked my headers on 350 degrees for about 5 and a half hours.

do you think i need to do anything else? or should they be fine to put on.

and before anyone says ceramic coating or jet coating, i dont have $300 to shell out right now....

i would sell it or throw that pos away! i had one for a year.... an by the end of that year i had it welded six times! My pops is a pro welder so it didn't cost me anything except for down time. The steel is way too thin. It wasn't only cracking at the welds... it was burning holes right through the pos. We actually had to fab up steel plates to cover the hole and then weld it on... only for a new hole to appear a month later. The last time it cracked was where all the runners meet the collector. It burned a hole threw the heat shield under the hood and boiled my paint on the hood.... still want to use it? I definitely didn't notice ANY loss of performance when i put my ported 2g manifold back on. Good luck

You blue paint will be done after one hard pull. You mani will be done after a few of those. It is a POS and no matter what you do to it it will remain a POS.

Look at it as a leasoned learned. Research BEFORE buying.

well thanks guys... LOL i guess i can use those gaskets for any manifold so im not out the money for that, just the money for the headers.

i think ill go over to ebay right now....

I am looking at getting a little more horsepower out of the stock t-25 and was wondering if anybody knew anything about Pacesetter exhaust manifolds. I am looking for something rather inexpensive but not ssautochrome cheap. I need some suggestions.

i have one and it seems to be working for me, cannot really say i felt a difference, but i am still on the stock 14b. so if you are thinking of upgrading to a bigger heavier turbo or switching out your oil and water lines for ss lines, then i do not reccomend going with this manifold, simply becuase it is working now, but it is rusting, and it does not look like it can take much weight. for a better manifold upgrade i third just porting your stock manifold, takes more weight, costs less, and probably flows a lot. i bought mine becuase my stock 1g manifold cracked, as they all almost do.

i have an FPred and i'm still using a ported 2g exhaust manifold. i think it will be fine for your t-25.

i found a pacesetter tubular turbo manifold for the 4g63 turbo engine for only $160 shipped. does anyone know much about the pacesetter brand? are they a good company? is it worth the money? im seeing all these other manifolds for $500 and up.... this seems pretty nice and it comes with all the gaskets and install guide. its a high temp black finish

check it out:

Piece of sh*t. Seriously. Do some searching on it and you will see.

It cracks all the time, it's thin walled and there is no bracing. I've seen crack at the runners, the collector, everywhere.

It's a good flowing manifold, but it was said before, it cracks like a mofo. I got one of my buddies to weld mine up and I haven't had any problems, it has been on there for over 6 months and no more problems.

The main problem with the manifold that I got from them is the runner for the first cylinder came completely unwelded from the flange, which maid it sound like ass.

If you do decide to get it, you may as well go ahead and prepair to buy some header wrap as well, it will raise underhood temps a lot.

I can get you some pics of mine if you would like, it looks really good under the hood, shoot me an e-mail if you have any more questions ([email protected])

Before I say anything know that I personally had this exact manifold on my car. It is a piece of crap in the truest sense. The "high-temp" black paint caught fire when the engine was first turned on after the install. Oh and no there were no instructs to repaint it before installing.

The not two months later the manifold gasket melted which didn't suprise me seeing as how it was made of paper basically.

This piece also had some of the worst welds that I have seen not to mention that it was really thin. Get a ported 2g or wait until you get a bigger turbo to decide what to do about manifold selection

the dnp turbo manifold is really nice.... car runs excellent.... i notice quicker turbo spool and deeper louder exhaust sound... im very impressed and it seems a bit faster now LOL...

kevin
i went all out and bought the dnp and not the pacesetter.....

Now I know I'm probably gonna get boo'd off the forum for bringing this product up but on performancepartswholesale.com they are selling a pacesetter catback for a 96-97 Gst for 224.00 I need an exhaust fast and cheap because of a broke muffler. Is this exhaust crap or is there a chance that it is half decent?

I have a pacesetter tubular manifold that I had rewelded by a buddy (who can weld like a mofo) and it is holding up fine for me right now. I wouldn't personally buy anything else from them. This manifold was on a buddies car and within the fist month the runner for the first cylinder came complete unwelded from the flanged (which is why it is comepletely rewelded now) I guess what I am trying to say is that they don't exactly have the reputation for making quality pieces.

I don't believe that it would be a good investment. With you buying the cat-back and having everything fixed that is going to go wrong with it, you could buy an Apex N1, which I have and it is a very very good exhaust. Sounds great and is a quality piece for sure. Check around on that and see what you can come up with one of those for. I got mine from ExtremePSI with the N1 downpipe in a combo deal so I am not for sure exactly what I paid for the cat-back by itself.

I have a Pacesetter catback on my '91 NT and have had good results, 3 years and no problems. It fit well also. A friend put one on his son's 92 turbo and was impressed with how well if fit. Pacesetters have a bright yellow exhaust tip which looks good for the first day, then turns black. I hear the same bad things about their headers but I would have no problems with the rest of the exhaust.
