I don't really like my corbeau harnesses. They don't feel secure. My friend has Schroth harnesses and they are a pain in the ass to adjust... that's what you want. You won't loosen them as you move forward. :thumb:
Schroth is hard to adjust or Corbeau? I would like Schroth but they are 3 times as much and can't afford them, but if Corbeau's suck I guess I will wait until I find something better.

I used Dupli-Color Gray 183 to accent the black.

looks good!

however...

you have to mount the upper harness close to 90 degrees to the seat. If not if you are in an accident the straps pulls down on your shoulders and can compress the spine (not good!) or break the collarbone...

thats why you need the upper harness bar.

I had a similar idea .. hmm ill post mine later to show what i did ..

The bar is out of my price range. Is this less safe than stock belts? What if I mount the harnesses to a rear upper strut location?

Having a compressed spine sure sounds more dangerous than a factory belt .. i think if i were you id think twice about it .. Id rather not be crippled cause of racing belts

You guys are right, I just read up on it. Those are bad mounting points. That's where Road Race tells you to mount the 4-points. I think I'll get a 3-point harness and bolt in to the backseat pillar where the back seat belt mounted to. This will be within the ideal range. What do you guys think? Would like Sparco Clubman 3-Point but they're not DOT approved. Schroth is the only company I know of that is. Does this mean I can get a ticket for wearing Sparcos?

I dont know if its just me or what.. But
"racey look" = Racing seats + harness+roll bar - carpet.

Let me correct myself with this: Racey look for someone that's not loaded.

I like the "stock" look with racing seats personally. Looks less cheap. No offense. Do what you like. It's not really gonna look race unless you remove all the rear panels, carpet, and put a cage in it.

Not the best pic to show mine, but you can see the reupholstered rear to look like it's a high end stock rear seat with racing seats up front.

Forget I said racey. I like the lightweight clean look of no backseats. But I want to know what you guys think about the safety of a 3-point harness bolted to the C pillar, probably Schroth. If anyone knows of a site cheaper than $160 please post.

just make your own bar

its just a plain ole bar that your harness bolts to. dont bolt your harness to the floor, dont bolt it to the c pillar, dont bolt it to a rear strut bar. make yourself a nice bar right behind the seats so that your spine doesnt collapse in a crash.

oh, and i have the same back seat setup as you :thumb:

I'd like to see some pics of your bar. I'm assuming that you have one, as you said "just make your own bar" likes its as easy as making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I don't see a problem with bolting it to the c pillar. This is where the SFI Foundation says to do it. I realize that harness bars are the ultimate solution, but it's not that easy, especially when you have no experience with "making bars."

only suggestion would be to make the top all smoothed out fiberglass rather than covering it with cloth. i guess its just preference tho.. good job

yeah that was my plan. fiberglass isnt the easiest thing to smooth out though, and bondo isnt much better. my weak ass arms are pretty toned right now htough from about 2 weeks of sanding and bondo that i couldve summed up in a day had i known vinyl was so much easier and better looking than the look i was going for. the vinyl is the same texture as the doors, and is like a 95% match, its just a little lighter. i mustve spent 40 bucks on bondo alone, not to mention all the dam sanding sponges i bought, regular sandpaper, and belt sander paper.

now that the interior is basically done its back to go fast stuff.

Get that Alarm next man LOL i would hate someone to rip that off! anyways see ya around. :thumb:

I like that idea a lot. Do you have wood boxes underneath and then a fiberglass cover over it all? Is it all 1 piece if you ever had to remove it for some reason? How much does that all weigh?

it weighs about as much as a normal sub box. its all one piece and fully removeable. the stock pieces are still perfectly untouched so if i ever decide to sell them i can take the box out and sell it to someone with a spyder and revert my car to stock.

if you are lookin for a cool alarm, grab a viper 791xv and also add on a proximity sensor, It gives you the ability to set 2 zones, If zone 1 is violated the alarm will "Warn Away", and if zone 2 (set to monitor the inside of your car) is violated then the alarm will trigger fully. Its also a 2-way system, if your alarm goes off your pager will let you know whats goin one if you are within 1/4 mile of your car, All commands are confirmed also, say you unlock your car, your pager gets confirmation back that the car unlocked. The 791 xv comes with remote start but if you dont want remote start i suggest getting the viper 350hv, and does a "Responder" upgrade. That option is the same as a 791xv but doesnt provide remote start and is a hell of alot cheaper.

I have the 350hv with responder upgrade + the proximity sensor that i mentioned along with a glass temper sensor. Its a really good setup. Its also nice to know your pager will wake you up at night with an anoying beeping noise if your car is getting broken into or even approched.
