Real evo 3 16g in ebay 16g housing?

Hey every one i have a ebay 16g turbo and it went out on me. Big surprise . well i have an actual evo 3 16g gt but my buddy welded honda headers to the exsaste side of turbo. So im wondering if i can take them apart and put the real evo parts in the ebay housing. what do u guys think

It should fit, the locating pin on the turbine housing might be too fat though (at least it was on mine) but you can trim it down.

No authentic 16g turbo has "GT" in it, or on it. That my friend is also a counterfeit. But to answer your question, yes they are interchangeable.

The Evo III 16G GT is not a MHI turbo, but a cheapo. Not only is it fake if it says GT, but it's fake if it actually says 16G or Evo on it as well. The real one says TDO5H and it has a part number to look up to see which turbo it is -- 14B, 16G, Big 16G, or Evo III 16G.

when i did mine (over boosted and cracked the sh#t outta it)all i had to do is port it out a little to fit..
maybe your gt turbo would fit better than my mhi did.

It works....I've done this plenty of times for customers using everything from a 14B to a 20G.

As it was stated evo 3 gt turbo is not a real MHI part..So I think your just waisting your money if you try it..Just buy a real one and call it a day..

But if justin says it can be done I'm sure it can..The issue then would be price of doing all that work compared to buying a real evo3..

I'd say just save up and buy a new real mhi Evo III 16G turbo. That's the route I would go.

Hey sorry justin about the spelling its not my strong suit. Yea i am saving money right now but times are tight right now and i was gifted both of them. I have been running the ebay 16g for about 6 months now with no problems but lately it has been cutting out in high boost(i say high i push 15) as if spark plugs are not gaped right. I have changed plugs and wires and no help. It also boost spiked to 18psi a couple of times. So i was thinking that the turbo may be passing oil to my intake or something. Im gunna pull of intake to take a look right now but im kinda at a loss

I was going to do this until I get a new O2 due to the fact that my ported E316G is set-up for and external gate, and I have an eBay housing that was given to me. It should work fine. If the pin doesn't fit, mark the CHRA where it is, and mark the housing where the pin is before you assemble and it should be clocked just right.
