i was looking on ebay for some good used turbos...but i ran into alot of ported EVO3 16g turbo for sell brand new for like 400-500 bucks with install kit and J-pipe and some eve comes with manifold. Why are there so many on ebay? are they knock-0ff EVO3 or something? like here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/EVO-...2QQihZ002QQcategoryZ33742QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Has anyone buy any EVO 3 on ebay? or from this seller? Is it worth to buy it?

Let me put it this way:

Some people debate if EVO3 GT (a knock-off) is as good as EVOIII MHI. Well the ones on ebay aren't even EVO3GT (which is supported and retailed by Turbochargers.com by the way), they're random knock-offs made by who knows who (probably XSpower ROFL ). As will most knock-offs, there are good produts out there, but percentage of defective units is very high.

i dont think id buy a turbo from ebay personally, ive read other threads on this site with ppl buying them off ebay and having troubles with the turbos afterwards. Seems like knock off parts to me, but from the pictures it looks ok, and I dont want to seem like a bearer of bad news, but personally i dont think ebay should be the place to get something that important, to me ebay is more a place id get shifter knobs, or aftermarket steering wheels, or crazy lights for your car and all that ricey stuff. ( I did buy a ralliart steering wheel, and front and rear strut bars from ebay before ) but for a turbo you might want a better place, even though i know its cheap. Think carefully before you do it, and ask the seller alot of questions.

i bought my EVO 3 16g off ebay and it works great! i can boost all the way to 21 PSI no problem. I would recomend it if your looking for just a hold off till you can afford that nice turbo!

Those turbos aren't even tested. These companies just copy the original with cheaper metals and parts and think they can work. Yeah sometimes they can last maybe a year or two. I guarantee you they won't last nearly as long as the tested and true mitsubishi EVOIII.

Real companies do hours and hours worth of testing to check out specs and also check there reliability. I highly doubt these ebay turbos are tested for anything. Maybe a visual inspection.

Most of them had the same description on the EVO3..but all came from different sellers. I know knock-out are no good ### my friend bought his from an unknown company, not ebay, and a month later his turbo was dead and he replaced his with the EVO3 from a reputable company and it still working. I think its not just ebay the sell sh*tty turbos, it depends where you get it from.

If you have money to blow, and time to experiment, then I would go with that turbo.

On the other hand, if you want something that you KNOW will work from the moment you get it, go with a real MHI 16g, and not a knockoff.

I'm not saying the knockoff won't work, because there's a good possibility it will. There's also a good possibility it won't. If you're feeling lucky, then go for it! I've heard of people buying these Ebay turbos and having great results, while others suffer.

Dont get something like a turbo off EBAY, way too important of a pece to out cars to go cheap on. Get a MHI EVO3 16G, from SBR or a good reputable company, cause they sell the MHIs for 500$ alone, no porting, or kits.

Im not gettin the turbo off from ebay...i was just wondering why are there so many on ebay and to see if anyone got theirs from ebay. There were some used good turbos on ebay like there was a Gt35r set up goin for 1100...and no one bought it.

I bought mine and it works great, a buddy of mine andrew bought his SC-61 off of ebay and he managed to pull 450whp on it, ran an 11.949 @ 120 and the turbo is still in great condition, i know many people who have had great experiences with these turbos. Take the word from people who have bought them, not the people who were too scared to try.

It all depends, not all turbos on ebay are knock offs. Even though there are so many evoIII knock offs I know there are also some real ones as well. Ebays is great, just do you research first, so you know you are getting the "authentic" product if that what your after. As for the evoIII knock off I wouldn't waste my money, the real evoIII is under $500 now & you know it has been proven to last. IMO its not worth it to save abit now & pay alot more in the end.
