Alright everybody, I think it' time for me to ditch my out of breath T25 and I'm gonna go EVO 3 big 16G. I know what I'll need for it to install, but I have a question regarding some of the supporting mods. I don't have the dough for an AFC or larger injectors right now, If I promise to keep the boost down will it still drive fine with only the fuel pump upgrade? I mean, if I jump on the throttle will it starve of fuel? I know I'm gonna need a new o2 housing, but is my 2G exhaust manifold up to the task? Thanks for everyone's help :thumb:

2g o2 housing is fine. i run a STOCK 2g o2 housing and a ported 2g exhaust manifold on my 20g...

keep boost low and you will definetly be fine. if you dont have the money for injectors you could always run meth. its a little bit cheaper and will help in preventing knock. i found this kit awhile back and i will soon be running it.

just remember you're going to need a 16g install kit with j-pipe. don't try using the stock stuff. also, i'd recommend porting the exhaust housing if you want to stay low boost. otherwise you're going to boost spike and hit fuel cut, and that's no fun.

I have a big16 g , downside is the slow spooltime , but well , there is nothing to do

WHHAAAT?! a 16g is one of the fastest spooling turbos there is. Ported exh. manifold, ported turbo and ported O2 housing and you spool crazy. Exactly what turbo out there would he upgrade to and have a quicker spool with?

As for the turbo bolting up, it will run absolutely fine, keep it under 15 psi without the rest of the supporting mods, and yes even then it will pull better than the t25

Turn the boost ALL the way down, save for support mods. You'll be fine running a larger turbo on mostly stock parts just play it safe. Only upgrade the turbo if you absolutely have to..what fuel pump are you running??

I would think it also depends on if he rewired the pump, has a stock intercooler....

I would log the car and see if your pulling timing then adjust from there.

If you dont have the cash, you can always get a 14B and have money left over to get the supporting mods like injectors and pump. Plus ones you have the install kit, rather you make it yourself and save a load of money or you purchase it. Ones you do have the cash you can then just swap the 16G on there.

thats the route I would go if you are short on cash. Having that 16G is nt going to do much good if you cant use its potential.

If you already have the 16G, I would wait to put it in till you have the rest to support it. I only say that cause you will be tempted to up the boost. If you get creep or a spike that would not be good.
