$375 Ebay Evo3 16G! For Real?

It is a vendor with low feedback (166) who has only been selling since June 05'. They only have one negative and one neutral feedback comments.

It would seem like a good deal. Apparently it is also ported and polished and comes with new studs, crush washers, banjo bolts, gaskets and even oil feed lines.

Does anyone have experience with this vendor? Has anyone ordered one of these before? Is this a chinese Evo 3 GT?

This turbo is a Knock Off. Stay Away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it is deffinately not real. i got the same one as a gift and i am going to put it on this week but i am going to be a daring person to test it. If i were buying one i would save up and buy the one from extreme psi for 539 shipped it will most likely run alot longer. But i tell you if you will search you will find all kinds of things about this turbo.

Well, I took a look at it, and apparently, he's been selling quite a few turbos. I personally have never been one to buy those kinds of items off of ebay(unless a well known, reputable shop is the one selling it.) With that said, a ported B16G with all those items for only 350?? Seems very strange to me, but he has the feedback to enforce some amount of validity......

Usually if its to good to be true, that is exactly the case. No thats not a real MHI evoIII & it isn't even the GT version. Do some research and take a look a some real evoIII picks from reputable vendors, such as the ones listed on this site. Easyest way to tell is from the compressor cover. I've attached a pic of a real evoIII to help you out. Some things to look for real evoIII has TD05 cast on the comp cover, has a part number cast on the comp cover as well as some numbers stamped (can be seen in the close up 2nd picture down) also look for paint assembly marks on different parts of the turbo, most others don't do this. EvoIII's will have a step in the turbine inlet unless they are ported.

The GT version has EVOIII GT cast on the comp housing & if you look at the turbine housing inlet there will be no step and no porting marks as its cast this way.

Im all for cheap modding (why do you think I bought a dsm ) but for such a crucial part like the turbo I would always spend the extra cash.

Odd, this is the third evo III on the market.

We've got the MHI evo III 16g that's been proven to be a fantastic turbo for the money.

We've got what's now known as the Turbochargers.com EVO III 16g GT which has made some seriously good number (416whp and has run in the 11's on a galant vr4).

...and now we've apparently got yet another imitator. Something tells me though that marked down to les than $400 that this may be a very cheap copy of what is already a copy of an original.

I appreciate all of the feedback from you guys. I too would be very hesitant to buy something like this. I was curious if anyone had experience with this particular turbo. If and when I buy a new turbo it will be from an established vendor who can provide the customer support that an Ebay deal cannot.

Still though, if it were to put down good power for a few years, I would say it wasnt that bad of a deal considering all that comes with it.

Goodluck with that. I had one from the previous owner. The FIRST one blew from an around the block drive, Literally, Blown. The second one got KILLED. It's your money though, Do what you want..

Knockoffs of knockoffs of knockoffs. I love it. I remember turbocharger$.com complaining about the ssautochrome knockoff of their knockoff. I wonder if ssautochrome will complain about this knockoff of their knockoff.

this is the exact same picture of this turbo that i found in an add from the may 2006 issue of turbo magazine. you should be able to find it at godspeedproject.com. it claims it's a big 16g but obviosly it's not. sorry about the blurrry pictures.
