Looked around the forums and the question wasnt answered very specifically.

Just bought a real big16g rebuilt by Jusmx141, and sold to another member which i bought it from. Unfortunately it had a crack on the exhaust housing and I'm wondering if the EBAY version of the 16g's exhaust housing will be a direct replacement on the REAL 16g?

If it does fit, what should i look out for? And any common problems?

i have a cx racing housing from a cx racing 16g. i have noticed, that the dowel pin is sightly bigger on the cx racig housing.

Where is the dowel pin on the real 16g?? and is a CX racing 16g a knockoff similar to the ebay 16g? cause thats what i really need to know LOL

Thanks for the reply, and would I have to port the housing at all, or are they the same inlet and outlet size? I believe the flapper hole is significantly smaller than the real 16g housing, right?

The crack is inside the housing, bout 1 inch in length and goes into the flapper hole, when I shine a light through it I can see it through the flapper hole, only about half a CM would leak through, would you guys still run this turbo?

USUALLY the ebay housings have the larger 34mm flapper, but the hole is small, I would port that hole to prevent boost creep. Also, the bearing (I know it's not a bearing, but idk what to call it) where the waste gate flapper connects to the housing, likes to travel, and bind up preventing it from closing properly. Also, the ebay housings flow better, as the volute is larger. Ill see if I can find a pic for comparison (you'll see once you see the pics). Also

*Edit found them. Thank's to Laserspeeddemon

There was an ebay 16g on one of the parts cars that I picked up, and the WG flapper/arm was different than an oem 16g

I was having issues controlling the boost and tried putting an OEM WG on the ebay 16g and the alignment of the flapper arm was different causing it to bind and not function properly.

So, yes it will fit, but there is a chance that an OEM WG actuator won't work on it. This may vary case to case as I'm sure theres several versions of ebay 16g's by now. But the possibility is certainly there.

Damn man thanks for that forum post, LOL maybe i shouldve just went with the ebay one xD, my exhaust housing looks very clean comapred to other 16g's. Only problem is the crack =/

and this 16g actually has an aftermarket actuator, holset i think the seller told me. Not sure bout that, but it is what it is. I'm thinking bout just running the turbo even with the crack.. I'm only going to be boosting like 12 maybe 14 pounds DD. Only thing im scared of is the crack gets much bigger and then worst case is I gotta do a rebuild after that. What u guys think of that?

Well a crack in the exhaust housing isn't going to cause you to need to rebuild the turbo, just get a new exhaust housing. Personally I find it rare to ever have an MHI turbo that DOESN'T have cracks in the turbine housing either near the WG or the Inlet. Unless of course you get a brand new one. IMO if your not trying to break records and just DD your car on moderate boost. Use as is.

Worst case is it will spool a tiny bit slower, but given your description of how small the area is that leaks past the flapper, you probably won't even notice.

Haha ight man, guess imma just slap this one on in a few days, if the housing gets totally demolished, then ill replace it with the ebay one :p Thanks for the posts guys =] peace:hellyeah:

If your set on using the cracked 16g housing, just get it welded up. But you can also get that sleeve tack welded into place to prevent it from shifting, and use the ebay housing. IDK, I guess I just like the fact that it flows better ;)
