c,
this will be kind of long so bear with me. a few months ago i bought a turbo off ebay thinking it was a 14b, it has no shaftplay and is, in general, in good condition. except for the stud on the turbine housing which is snapped off level with the top of the flange. NOTHING to grab at it with. During one of my attempts to drill out the stud i was just kind of looking at when i noticed something, it had a 16g compressor wheel, so i checked the numbers and as it turns out i have a big 16g turbo that I paid 150$ for after shipping. pretty cool right?
so heres the situation. one of my friends who has a bad tendancy to act without thinking sprayed PB blaster on the bolt when we had it heated up trying to get the stud out, this caused a decent amount of cracking inside the exhaust housing, so my question is this, should i drop it off at a machine shop to get that stud out? or just buy a new housing? and if i should buy a new housing, is there any reason i shouldn't get this one eBay Motors: DSM ECLIPSE 16G TD05H 7MC2 TURBINE HOUSING TURBO (item 350154480734 end time Jan-21-09 19:06:16 PST)
on a really tight budget here, so it'd take me about another 2 weeks to be able to get enough money for a new housing from FP or similar assuming i don't eat or buy gas
