ROFL Haha yeah thats true...Hey its early. I had my old eclipse sort of like that. I hooked a Card Reader switch and relay to the main power wire (30) and the vehicles Ignition wire. So when I got in the car I would slip the card in the slot to turn on ignition and power to the push button switch. Then you hit the start button and it would fire up. Pull the card out and it shuts down and kills power to the switch.

It would be cool to use a thumb print switch!

If this is the "jeff99gs" on you tube then nice vids. Can you do a vid of your switch that you made? Where did you get that card thing from?

say u take ## thumbprint and it saves as the print you need or whatever....
1) no one else can drive it like ## gf or whoever
2) i had a laptop with the thumbprint scan and then i burned my hands and burned my thumbprint off..... my computer was locked and had 2 be taken into best buy :) good guys there figured it out but said that it nvr happened b4....

So I just bought and engine start button but have no clue how to install it. All the instructions say (which is very simple) is to plug a (+) wire on the engine start unit then run a wire to the starter. The problem I am having is an easy solve! I'm not sure which wires to splice under my dash! Where should I grab the positive wire and where should I grab the starter wire! Any help is appreciated thank you!

I've always wanted a push button start, I think you should post pictures when you're done as I have no idea where I'd mount it. I'm assuming this is the same one thats a autozone, pep boys, etc? Missle switch and a start button?

To me, the 12v and the starter sounds like a half ass install. What it sounds like is you need to tap a wire that gets +12v only when the key is in the on position, and just run any wire into the engine bay to the starter. If you wanted you could pull the steering wheel column and tap into the wire that sends the start signal?

Thinking about it, the missle switch used in the start buttons ive seen in stores is probably used to over ride the key needing to be in the on position. However this seems like a HUGE security issue...If i were you, i would tap the +12v that gets power when the key is in the on position (there should be one in the radio harness if i recall correctly?) and then either run a new wire to the starter, or tap the one that is used in the start position in the ignition harness.

*instert links to wire diagrams* Sorry, If i find some I'll edit.

A buddy of mine had his cigarette lighter work as a push button start. I thought that was a pretty cool anti-theft idea.

I always thought Push button was cool...

so, you know what I did?

Bought one! 2001 Honda S2000.. Isnt that cool once you have it.

haha yeah, i thought his was cool. i never really felt it was cool enough to buy though.

ok fella, here is how you do it..... first off, eliminate the positive cable that goes to the starter motor from the key switch, the cable that goes from the "start position" of the key switch. then get a hold of the positive cable that fuels the car when the switch is on "on"position, yeah that cabe, then feed a cable from that positive cable to the push button, and from the other end send a line to the starter motor. I have to cars, both turbos, thats how my accent is. my dsm is just stock, and it has a kill switch.

now for the kill switch......my dsm have a kill switch. my batt its on the rear, so, i think that the switch is hook one the positive cable that goes from the batt to the wire harness. the wire harness fuels the ignition system, once cut off it wont run. i just got the car bout a month ago and thats how it is. just fixed it.

Thats pretty bad ass!! I am loving the push button start. how much did it cost you to do that lil project?

that is pretty cool, being able to just swipe the card across, seems a bit more work then just being close to the receiver though

about $20 for logic parts about $25 for relays and fuses and $98 for the switches!

That's cheap compared to what I was thinking :D I might give this a try for electronics (on/off) in my car instead of switches. Thanks for the inspiration!
