I was looking at this, and I saw how cheap it is. I was wondering if anyone has ever bought it and if it is a direct bolt on. What about the wiring for the fans, do they just plug in?

Im going to need some slim fans eventually, so this looked very interesting to me.

I wish I would have read this before I bought my FLUIDYNE, it is there 2g turbo car replacement, I was planning on using my stock fans but couldn't, look at the picture to see how poor their fit is, look at the lower left A/C mounting point (I have more pics of other problems) , no measurments match the OEM and the mounting points are not in line.

So much for paying good money to get a product that that drops in and fits correctly and won't cause me to spend additional money for things I don't need (Fans).

On top of that their customer service is poor, all this could be the reason they are moving the operation to the Carolinias (Steve @ Fluidyne in Cali. told me of the move).

I would advise using another vendor, I wish I would have!!!

YUP, that is a FLUIDYNE, thats why I'm so annoyed, I paid good money ($400. with shipping) for a product that wouldn't present problems and just bolt in.

I guess this is why the original owner is buying back the company and moving the operation east .
At Steves request I put together a compairson of an OEM radiator and the Fluidyne radiators mounting points, the Fluidyne was off in all locations from 3/16"- 7/16".

In all this took a month, thats why I say they have poor customer service and to stay away, the kicker is that they only want me to return this radiator, they never offered to replace it with a good unit as I requested.
BUYER BEWARE.

By the way the car is not an RS Turbo it is a 95GSX

Finally downloaded my pictures from the camera to the computer.

Here's the kit:

Here's a couple side by side comparison pictures. You cans see how the PR kit is much cleaner and leaner than the stock setup. However, in the 2nd picture below you will see, in fact that the PR radiator is visibly larger than the stock radiator.

I bought this rad when the deal first came out from PR. I must say I was disappointed to get a CXRacing ebay radiator that I could have bought cheaper from eBay but still a decent deal. I havent had the car out on the road since I changed this, thermostat and hoses but Im hoping it performs well. For the wiring, my buddy said he had a switch that mounts inside the fins of the radiator, once the temp. gets so hot the switch kicks on automatically turning the fans on and off so nothing must be done manually. I will be trying this method out so a slightly better option than a switch in the cockpit which I'd probably forget to turn off most of the time haha.

viprez586 also said that his was a CXracing; his even has a plate on the radiator that says it and he also said there was a "CXracing" sticker in the box. Mine came with neither one. No badges, plates, or stickers. I got mine back in February of this year.

Does did yours also come with a "CXracing" plate or sticker?

the last 2 post aboves now confirm that they are indeed ebay radiators with the punishment racing names.. hey you guys paid more but now you do get better customer service :p and for a lot of people in this world, that is worth it

nevertheless these have been great cores, still dont know why those people in china got lazy not to put the 4th mounting hole for both fans, i dont see how it would be a problem or obstruction.. someone screwed up in the CAD design on the reverse engineering process or something

Boostjunki84, any temp reading recordings from the slim fans compared to stock.

Mine came with both the box and the label on the side of the radiator. So it is indeed a CXracing but I havent really heard anything bad about them so I'm not that distraught about it. I havent actually run the car since install so I cant say anything about the fans. Wont know until this spring sadly

I observed temps 20 degrees cooler with the PR radiator/slim fans vs. the stock radiator/stock fans. I didn't test the PR radiator with the stock fans though. This is a good idea though.

I will also be getting this kit for my Laser sometime in the near future. When I do I will be sure to test the stock setup vs. PR radiator/stock fans vs. PR radiator/slim fans. I am also thinking of getting the kit with the shroud; if I do, i'll also test it with and without the shroud.

Installed my kit today... Radiator fit fine except for the clearnce with my wastegate. The wastgate was hitting the top right corner fan mount. I had to cut a part of it off and that fixed that issue. My dump is also very close to the radiator and fans now, so I had to heat wrap it. The weird thing is now, I see to get a little higher temps when sitting and doing slow driving, but when I'm on the highway I get usual and lower than usual temps... I also put in a 170 degree thermostat at the same time.

Question. I have similar fans with the same mounting kit. How exactly do you mount it? Do you really actually punch through the rad with that zip tie?

I have this rad. The only thing I noticed was it seems to be a tiny bit taller because the supports don't go on as level as the stock one. Also watch the fans they are junk I had one go out on me so I just put my stocks back on.

Anyone else has any reviews on this rad?? Did they fix their leaky o-ring problem??

I've had mine on the car for almost a year now with no leaky o-ring.:thumb:

The kit comes with Nylon mounting rods(also available at Advance) and they just slide right through the radiator. What I did was lay the radiator flat and placed the fans where I wanted them. I then gently pushed the rod through the radiator.

Then all you have to do is take everything back out and slide the rods through the other side. Lay it flat and slide the fans down over the rods. Use the clips to tighten everything up and then cut off the excess.

It works well. I haven't noticed any problems with mounting them this way.

Watch it if you get the shroud.. the extra thickness of the rad plus the shroud brings the fans a lot close to the turbo. I burned up the wiring on the drivers side fan and had to make a heat shield for the turbo and solder/rewire my fan.

You did that with the frontmount? Any pics?

Yeah he has to take off the a/c though am I correct?

I have mine in push mode but on the engine bay side, I think that's causing me to over heat. What do you guys think? I will re-wire them tomorrow to make them pull type.

Has else anyone gotten this kit with the shroud? I realize that you lose some room in the engine bay but does it help with the cooling?

Also does using the fans as pushers work any better/worse than the factory/normal pull method?

I don't think my factory radiator is going to last much longer and I'm shopping around for a good replacement/upgrade.

I ended up going with a CX Racing radiator and a couple of cheap 10" fans from eBay...which sounds like exactly what others have gotten from PR for more $$$.

I had a slight issue with the radiator fitment, but both it and the fans have worked just fine so far. With my turbo/EM/O2 housing titanium coated and running the stock heat shields, I can touch the fans after a pull without getting burned... so they are obviously not seeing a lot of exhaust heat. Under less ideal conditions, I don't know how they would hold up. On that note, coating the turbo hot stuff was one of the best things I've ever done, and not just for the health of the fans.

There is some info on how I "fixed" the radiator and mounted the fans in my build journal:

And to answer your question: A puller configuration is more efficient than a pusher.

Something else to be aware of is that with many slim fans, you can't just reverse the wiring and swap them to the other side of the radiator. Most of them nowadays have blades optimized for one direction of flow, so the blades must also be flipped if you switch from a puller to pusher configuration; unless the fan isn't reversible of course.
