I was looking at this, and I saw how cheap it is. I was wondering if anyone has ever bought it and if it is a direct bolt on. What about the wiring for the fans, do they just plug in?

Im going to need some slim fans eventually, so this looked very interesting to me.

I have this kit as well and I must say it is very good! I have had it for 2 months now and the first week of having it installed the o-ring on the drain plug broke and leaked all my coolent out:mad: I replaced it and the o-ring is starting to crack:confused: I'm not sure what I need to do to keep this from happening again? If I find something that works i will let you guy's know.

Use a neoprene O-ring and avoid all contact of it with oil. :nono:
Oil meets O-ring = swelling & deterioration.

Also you don't have to crank down that fitting either, just snug to create a nice seal and so the rubber isn't bulging it's life out.

It's not anything that would keep me from recommending it, but my drain plug O-ring went bad already too.

I got the core which seems to be the same on punishment racing is selling on EBAY. It was about $150 shipped give or take $10, I forget. Decided to just use the stock fans and save $100.

Core is solid and welds look beefy. What was interesting is if you use the stock fans, each fan is missing a mounting poiint. They only have 3 per fan. Failed to notice that in the pictures. The fans still are held securely, but it was just weird how they decided to not include the last mounting point for the stock fans. This can be seen in the pics I attached.

Also the AC fan will be pushed a bit closer to the engine because of how the mounts are designed. About half an inch. The engine fan still sits flushed with the radiator like stock. Both of this could be seen in the pictures I attached.

I'm running a big16g, and the Jpipe I had fits just right where I didn't need to hack any part of the fan/shrouding/etc. If it as the RRE jpipe, I know for sure I would have to because I use to have that setup.

My only other complaint like everybody said is that O-ring gasket on the drain plug. Mine ripped right away.

So far it has been good, but it has only been 2 days.

Nice install. I was thinking about buying the core off of ebay, but I decided to go with a reputable company in case i had any issues with quality.

UPDATE: The aluminum diffuser i installed is actually .020" so it's pretty thin but still holds up well. On the freeway(65-85mph) my cruising temps are at a rock solid 209*F, also did a WOT pull to 110mph and stayed at 209*F. Anything under 45mph I turn the fans on and it hovers between 203*-209*. My friends continue to bug me about the fans that came with the kit: asking if wings came with the kit (I do admit the fans sound cool:cool:). At idle I've never seen anything more then 213*F.
I also got some adhesive backed foam with my heater core, not really sure why, but i used this to seal the edges of the radiator. It worked great and is very sticky! I forgot to take a picture of this stuff so I'll have to see what I can get.

With the left over aluminum I'm going to try and make a heat shield for my SBR manifold and a lower heat sheild for the turbo. My fan wiring protector loom got melted instantly! Hopefully once i do that this weekend it will also contribute to lower temps.

Stay tuned for more pics!

the punishment racing radiator kit seems pretty new. has anyonw had one for a while and run their car hard for a while. I want something for road racing at pacific raceways or PIR and i want to make sure this radiator setup is solid as cooling the engine is kind of an important thing ;) has anyone ever had to deal with punishment racing with returns or warranties, i just want to know how their customer service etc is

I just oredered one for me.
I hope ill be a happy customer.

I am runing the Koyo OEM radiator right now, but with only on fan.... and my car kind wants to overheat... I can see that temperature gauge passing the middle a little (where it is suppoust to be).

Im gonna trust you all on this one.

The dash temp. gauge is so inaccurate. Get a logger/ water temp. gauge to determine your engine coolant temperature.
The koyo radiator is probably the exact same dimensions and probably has similar cooling capabilities. You need to add another fan, seal the radiator to the core support, add ducting to the radiator and install a lower diffuser. This will help you from overheating, but how much your overheating you don't know. 200*F to 230*F could be less than a 1/32" sweep of the gauge and shouldn't be just ruled out by a pass or fail method. Nearly all gauges on the dash are inaccurate and provide very BASIC information to the driver.

THe koyo that I have is exactly the same thing as the stock one... I just boyght because it was cheap and my old one cracked.
Now I just oredered the punishment one... I hope Ill be happy with it.

So... Im gonna try to get a water temp gauge in my car.

I just replaced with a after markets stock one with a AL core and plastic tanks it seems to be doing a good job i have one stock fan still and then one aftermarket 10" spal fan on the inter cooler blowing back onto the radiator.

holds 200 most of the time creeps up during autoX

Can I install the stock fan on this radiator?
my idea is to install the stock one (on the side that it fits), and the side where my IC pipes go install the fans that comes with it.

Is it a good thing to do, or it doesn'e really metter?

because I want to leave the stock fan for the purpuse of turning on automatic, and the other one I would just turn it on whe need it.

Or can I use the new slim fans and plug it in on the stock sensor things?

So the core alone was $150 shipped from Punishment's Ebay auctions or from Ebay? Link?

sorry for the confusion, i meant to edit and redo that sentence. ashamed at myself for the horrible sentence structure. :( I meant to say I got the core alone on EBAY, which seems to be like the same one Punishment RAcing is selling with their kits.

Anyways, I got it from this seller..

eBay Seller: etdmotors: eclipse radiator, eBay Motors items on eBay.com

and microsoft has a promotion with their Live search feature, where they were giving out 35% cashback from ebay purchases. Made the deal even sweeter. I dont know if its still going on though, i know it went down to 25%, but who knows what it is now and if its still active.

Mishimoto+1,
As for aluminium radiators. All the mishimoto, pudenishment racing, etdmotors, ther all the same! Each company buys them in bulk gets there spray paint and logan out and puts it on there, then throws it in htere own box. I believe etdmotors is the base radiators, they sell them to mishimoto and PR, and probably others. IF ETD would of been out when i bought mine i would of got it, just wasnt on ebay yet oh well. I paid 235 for the 2g radiator with one big slim fan. NEver had any problems with it and i think anyone that spends 500 bucks on a radiator and another 200 on each spal fan is a idiot(although spal fans are more powerful, i d on't think they make up for the price). I am very happy with my purchase keeps car very cool, but beaware that bi*** gets hot on top so don't pop your hood and to look in and put your elbows on it! LOL

I've had this kit installed for a few months now with no problems at all. My coolent temps went from 213-216 degrees to 193-196 degrees. I was using a 70/30 mix, water wetter, 180 t-stat, and 1.3 bar radiator cap, before and after. Install was easy, and comes with everything you need to mount the fans. The Laser will also be getting one of these soon.

Damn 216? that seems awful high! my car ran like 200 at the max before now runs around 180 on average. Yeah i thought the instal was easy to, although with mind i just hard wired the one slim fan on a relay so it's on high as soon as the key is on. That way while i'm sitting i can cool the car if i want, plus the guy before me totally hacked the wiring job for the fans.

216 was the highest I ever saw it get up to; I think the temp at that time was around 88 and humid, and i let the car run in the driveway for approxmatly 20 minutes just to see how high it would get. Went up to 216 and stayed there.
