What a bisch this pte install became. This is the 3rd turbo I installed on the car and figured it would be a snap to install, boy was I wrong. Well to start things off, I broke 2 of the turbo bolts trying to get the old one out. Then I saw that the oil return line uses bigger bolts than the stock one did. So now 4 bolts down and 11pm I have nowhere to get these friggen bolts till morning.
Next day, I get the bolts, and think everything is going to go good and the water pipe is hitting, well a few taps and that baby is outta the way as well as the bolt that I had to grind down. Try to slide that baby in and that som um a bisch is hitting the fan. Out came the drimmel and let the fan choppin begin!! got er all cut out and finally it fits in nicely. Try to put on the intake and what do ya know, it wont fit. Ingen intake is much smaller than turbo inlet. Head to Lowes and get a rubber cuppler that goes from 2"-3" and shes crammed in there tight. Thinking that I am all done I start to put the oil and coolant in. What else but the coolant is leaking from where the coolant pipe connects to the t-stat housing. I had a gasket for that on hand and that was an easy fix.
Test drive time.... made it about 200 feet POW (intercooler piping) (car next to me thinks im shootin at them) bring-er back and weld dem bisches together. no more hose to pop off now!
All said and done, well not exactly, my front 02 sensor reads 0 all the time, gotta get a new one of them. and I also think my exhaust manifold is leaking now.
I must say that even with this not spooling to 20psi, by 4,000 rpms and all of these other problems, this sucka pulls harder @ 18psi than my 18g did @22.
I also installed a bigger intake I bought from someone on these sites, lets just say the quality is not exactly what the picture looks like nor is it what I was expecting. (Paid $75 for $10 worth of Lowes cupplers and a 3" chunk of exhaust pipe) O well you learn.
All and all its worth it now that its done. Now just gotta get it tuned up and were off to the races!!!
