I recently purchased a PTE turbo from DeJon Tool. I was very pleased with the turbo and install kit, there were no installation instructions or guidlines for adjusting the boost pressure. I contacted DeJon tool and they told me that they sent what was supposed to go with the turbo. I contacted PTE by Email and got no response. Any help with adjusting the boost would be appreciated. Also there were two vaccum lines attached to the old intake pipe, one from the valve cover which I have taken care of , do I need to modify my new intake pipe for the other or is there somewhere else that I can hook it up?

I have a boost controller that I used with my old setup, this new turbo was supposed to have its own boost control set up adjustable from 17psi and up. I just don't know how to adjust it, and did not want to try without getting some input form someone else first.:thumb:

It has an adjustable wastegate that is set at 15-17 or so psi. Mines 17. Its not a boost controller thou.....

Well I got no instructions either with my rs49 50 trim if its any consolation. As for intake pipe there are two lines that go into the turbo intake pipe. One comes from the valve cover and can be capped at intake or just put a breather ,k and n makes one that fits perfectly on your valve cover or a catch can setup.

The second line come from your vac canister and it can just be left hangin there again cap off the intake pipe or leave it hanging if intake pipe don't have the nipple on it.

I also have an internal gated turbo and it looks adjustable.I plan on just connecting it but some intstruction would have been nice as don't want to all of a sudden have it not open until 30psi.!!

I guess just have to carefully experiment with my boost gauge and boost controller and maybe throw in some racegas to make sure things are ok until get it adjusted.

I am waiting for my new intake pipe to install my turbo.

Absolutelt incorrect! On pte turbos, the wg arm is threaded to lengthen and shorted it. Mine came adjusted almost all the way out which yielded about 13 psi. To adjust it all you have to do is remove the cotter pin holding the arm to the flapper. look closely where the arm connects and you will see it. Take a flathead and just push it off. The just tighten(shorten) the arm to raise the boost. Don't worry about shortening too much because if you do it will be IMPOSIBLE (for me anyways) to put it back on. You have to pull against the increased spring preasure. I tighten it about 4 turns (I think) and it was to hard to connect so I losened it about 1/2 turn. Finally got it back on there and now boosting 20-21 psi with no seperate boost controller. pm me if you need help.

or just simply rehook up your boost controller and plug the port on the side of the turbo

When you adjust your waste gate arm you just change when the gate starts to open. A good MBC should hold the gate closed longer and alow more exhaust gasses to go through the turbine impeller. This increases spool time, but can cause spikes.

A good MBC or EBC is far better than just adjusting the arm.
One benifit of adjusting the arm though is that you can have it holding the gate shut harder so its not blown open during high boost. But that goes along with the MBC.

Wow...thats not the point of the wastegate...use a boost controller for adjusting boost. Leave the WG at the 13-16lbs.

That is not the point of a waste gate at all. The pressure will slowly start to force the acutator open, depending on the set-up it could start at 1 or 15psi, and be fully open at the desired pressure. This leads to bad spool characteristics, and is definately unsuitable for boost control. If you're asking a question like this, I have to ask. What injectors, fmic, fuel control, drivetrain modifications do you have?

Thanks for the help. I was not sure if I still needed the MBC or not. My mods are 6 bolt block w/ 95 pistons& ARP fastners, 3 angle valve job and mild port work on the head,2 1/2" intake pipes,3" turbo back exhaust cat but no muffler,ACT2100, FMIC,MAFT(blow through),660 injectors, Pocket logger, boost & egt gauge, larger fuel line(Stevetek),FPR,FPG,MBC,BFG drag radials, lowered 2".I think that is it..... for now. thanks again for the help!

Not entirely correct. You change when the gate opens, but you do the same with the an mbc. Shortening the arm increases the spring pressure which will make the wg open later. The ONLY drawback to this is when you shorten the arm you can also shorten the wg travel and it may casue creep. With an mbc/ebc the boost controler intercepts the signal before it gets to the wastegate, and then sends the signal when the desired boost is reached. It keeps the spring pressure the same. The drawback is if you are running 20 psi, the wg flapper is seeing 30+ psi of back pressure and can casue the wg to blow open.

sell your turbo now. if you dont know how to install a turbo, or how to adjust boost pressure your far from ready for anything larger than a 14b.

Your reasoning escapes me. How is a 14b any different in setup that an internally gated hybrid. Sell your computer before you post something else bogus.

he should no how to install the turbo if he installed all the other mods unless he had a shop do it and im sure he can adjust a mbc, he just cant figure out how to adjust the arm but u dont need to really and should use the mbc with it
