I currently have the PTE SCE5031 50 trim turbo and just picked up a Holset HX35. I just don't know if there is going to be a huge difference or if it is worth it. I want to say it will be worth it but wanted to ask for your wisdom

After looking at your profile I would worry about maxing out your current turbo before worrying about upgrading. With those injectors you aren't into the efficiency range of the turbo yet. Max out your current turbo and then decide if you want more.

I plan on getting 1000cc injectors this month and I just DSMlink V3. Waiting for the ecu to get socketed. I would have this turbo in for about 350-400 bucks and figure I could sell the PTE for about that much. It only has 3000 miles on it. Just trying to figure which turbo is worth keeping.

Depends on your goals. On the stock motor, running the HX35 all out is going to cause some internal issues. Also without a good set of cams, FMIC, and other supporting mods you won't get the full potential of either turbo. I have always been partial to Holsets but I would say stick with what is on there now.

Just updated my profile but I get what your saying. Just been hearing alot of talk of how well these Holset's are doing wasn't sure what it would compare to the turbo I have now. I would like to see the 400 WHP would be my goal.

I'd get bigger injectors for the 50 trim, tune it with dsmlink, and up the boost, max it out as 95blackgsturbo said, it will surely get you into the 400hp goal of your for sure.

two friends of mine keeping trying to get my to buy their turbos one has a dsm bolt 35r i think pte he wants to seel it for $900, the other has a hx35/7 blade for $400. which one should i go with?
p.s. my goal is 450-500awhp or mid 11s in the 1/4. and im prob going to buy 950cc injectors for whichever turbo i go with.
thanks for any help.

With 560's you haven't even seen what the turbo can do IMO I'd go get a set of at least 1150's maybe bigger, Switch over to E85 there is a station not too far from you, here's a link

25-30 psi on e85 is going to be night and day vs Gas
Trust me I have a BB Scm5031Re

I definitely plan on getting 1000cc injectors or bigger. Just wasn't sure if I should stay with the 50 trim or go with the HX35 that I have.

most definitely. I will sit on the HX35 until I max out the 50 trim.

So I finally got the JMF street SMIM and bbk tb installed along with DSMlink. I also got pte950's also. I am running SD and up the boost to about 25lbs of boost. I also got the FP race manifold also. Man has this turbo woken up. I am running on e85 as well. Threw in some arp head studs too. I have seen 44lbs/min but that was when i accidently up'ed to boost to 28lbs of boost. Wondering what a difference the hx35 will be.

I was at a high of 54lbs/min at 30psi with my old set up. Which was - 7blade hx35, stock bottem end, stock head with comp200s, pte 780cc, stock intake, on pump/race gas, ect!!!

With the mods you have, 44lbs/min is a little low for 28psi! IMO

Yes it is a bolt on PTE5031e. I still have some tuning to do as I am new to it. I was at 44lbs/min at 5600 rpms. It wasn't til it really hit hard i looked down to see I was at 28lbs of boost that I let off. I didn't have the arp's in yet.

Well you have your logger. Tune for no knock and see what happens. Yes the bolton hx35 is an upgrade to the bolton 50-trim on both sides of the turbo. You'll likely not ever see the numbers Dave got. But that PTE turbine housing is so rediculous, you're seeing numbers not much more than I see at only 20psi with my bolton hx35. And I am still on the stock intake manifold and e3 exhaust manifold while you're using the JMF street SMIM and FP exhaust manifold.

Yea, just got it tuned and the internal gate won't do anything past 24lbs. was logging about 44lbs/min on 20lbs of boost after tuning on e85 with 11.7 afr. Time to go external gate and push it up to 28lbs. After that going with the hx35. Was in my buddies 7 blade hx35 in his gst and man that thing is violent. On an external gate tial 44mm with a 25lb spring. Hits full boost by 3500 rpms.
