Holset hx35

get on a cummins forum and pick up a used one. Thats where my HY came from.

The compressor housing looks like a normal HX35 one to me. What looks different about it to you?

I guess the tag on the housing. I thought they all normally had a serial tag. This one just has a sticker.

I, and a fellow turbo mod on here, just bought real Holsets from them a little while back, so I'd venture to guess it's the real deal.

Both turbos are holding up well? Same seller, same part number they're using, correct?

I would have no doubts as to being real or fake, coming from that seller. The problem is that that turbo isn't a regular hx35. It is listed as having a 51mm compressor inducer. A regular hx35 has a 56mm compressor. For reference a 20g has a 52.5mm inducer.

Did they even make hx35s with 51mm inducers. Could this be a misprint?

After a bit of searching I found that there is a 51mm hx35

Here's the item that we purchased. I haven't installed mine (only taken out of box to take pictures), so as far as holding up, I can't vouch. But I have seen the company name (Goldfarb) on here more than a few times.
eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

The sticker is just that - a sticker. Underneath is the normal Holset plate you're used to seeing. As you can see in the link above, the picture shows the same sticker. Mine arrived with no sticker in place.

As for measurements, I haven't taken mine apart yet to verify that these are indeed true. I was told by Justin (jusmx141) that the turbo will flow the full 60 lbs/min.

Quoted for when eBay ad disappears.

HX35 (non-wastegated model with 16cm exhaust housing)

HOLSET TURBOCHARGER CORE MODEL - HX35 PART NUMBER - 4036531 COMP FAN - 54.5MM -- EXHAUST FAN - 63MM -- A/R - 16 YOU ARE BUYING A HOLSET HX35 TURBOCHARGER CORE WITH PART NUMBER 4036531.

It's a 50mm inducer. There are only even-numbered HX35 inducer configurations- 50mm, 52mm, 54mm, and 56mm. The HX40 comes in 56mm, 58mm, and 60mm.

It should still be more potent than a 20G by far because the exducer remains 76mm like the other 7-blade HX35 wheels versus the 20G's 68mm exducer. Combined with a HX35 turbine which is around the same spec as a TD06, this turbo should be good for around 48-50 lb/min in a Bullseye DSM bolt-on turbine housing. Similar performance to an old-school Green or T04E50 Garrett but in a super-durable center housing.

that center section looks much smaller than my hx35w and also that oil drain has a round hole and my real one has a square hole. id bet its a knock off center section with holset compressor cover and exhaust housing.

ALL HX turbos have a round drain hole. H1's have the square hole.

The turbo's not a knockoff...I don't know why you guys keep insisting that it is.

Holset manufactures millions of variations of this turbo for all sorts of applications. Just because it looks different than yours doesn't mean its not genuine.
They'll build maybe 30 different types of a single turbo (HX35, for example), then clock it differently per application. So they'll build it, put it on a shelf, and when a customer comes in a says they need one to fit their whatever Cummins, they'll clock the housing accoringly and re-tag it with a sticker and the customer number. This is why there are two different numbers on each tag- assembly and customer. When they're both the same number like the example below, it's an unmodified assembly.
