I've searched for 2 days and I need an answer. This is my first non mitsu turbo swap and I'm trying to figure out how the hell to delete the coolant lines as well as where to oil the turbo from. Can anyone that's installed an oil cooled turbo chime in (with pics if you have them) so that I can get this thing bolted on today? Thanks!!!!:hellyeah:

After multitudes of phone calls someone finally answered. For any newbies who can't find the information I'll post pics later. If you don't have the luxury of a NT waterpipe, unscrew the coolant line for the mitsu turbo and replace it with a bolt covered in rtv. Also block off the upper coolant line off of the thermostat housing. Leave the line running to the oil filter housing hooked up.

Now where to feed the oil from....:confused:
 
The directions I got with my billet 6262 said oil from the top oil port on the filter housing. I've been told by distributors that if you don't follow the Precision instructions then they won't warranty the turbo.
 
You must be careful with oiling those turbos, using a -3 go unrestricted and -4 depending on if you have BS or not you will need to restrict the flow a givin amount. I feed from upper ofh port with -4 and .078 restrictor.
 
My pte blew from feeding from the head (journal bearing) and I didn't know any better. Now I have no balance shaft and feeding from an evo3 oil filter housing with a ported oil relief and -4an line no restrictor. Also I have about 12psi of oil pressure at idle.
 
Filter housing feed, add a restrictor if your oil pressure exceeds 65-70psi at any point.

Always check oil pressure at your chosen oil source before installing an aftermarket turbo and verify your oil pressure to what the turbo requires.

For god's sake, abide by what PTE tells you for the oil supply so the warranty is valid. I've seen 6152's fail in as little as 3 miles and rarely does one last longer than 1000 miles, so you'll most likely be using that warranty.
 
Really? I hit 100psi at WOT on my oil pressure gauge. My gt3561 seems to be ok so far.
Should definitely lower the pressure if you want the turbo to last longer. Actually 100psi+ of oil pressure isn't good for anything in the engine; you should try to shorten the pressure relief spring a little if possible. This won't hurt your pressure at idle and at lower engine speeds.

What the hell is a GT3561? I've heard of a GT3251E made by Precision.

GT3561 very similar to a scm61 but with a 35r wheel. It's a 35r minus the r. 4" inlet w/ sp cover and 2.5" outlet, mitsu flanged (i have 2 housings, 1 divided and 1 non divided w/ internal gate) I actually had it for sale but I may keep it if I dont get any bites. It's a great turbo I saw 52lbs/min so far. It will be well over 60lb/min this season, turbo is rated at 680hp.

Ok so would the install kit from stm have that restrictor? It's a blue nipple type of thing that screws into the turbo.
No restrictor in that fitting.

52 lb/min at what boost level? Don't you feel that's a bit low for a 35R compressor if you're running high boost?
 
Ok guys...spent a lil time in the garage. WHY IN THE HELL won't the turbo fit? The Oil drain line won't clear the motor mount...I'm I missing something or what? Anyone else have this issue? HELP!!!!
 
You'll have to notch the motor mount a little using a cutoff tool, or install a 45* fitting at the turbo that angles toward the driver's side of the car a little. There's no way around that.

Ah, the perils of installing an aftermarket turbocharger. You should see some of the shit I've seen over the years....one guy I met a while back bought his car with the oil drain made of steel pipe fittings routed straight down through the center of the motor mount, and then it had a "U" at the bottom where it came back up and hooked to the drain flange on the pan. How his turbo ever drained at all is beyond me!

Thanks for the info. This is one big ass headache!!! But I'll grab the grinding tool out tomorrow and see how much I can take off.

Steel pipe fittings? Now that's some rigged up stuff! Better then pcv piping....
 
You 6152 is not a ball bearing turbo. If you put a .035" oriface in the oil supply of a journal bearing turbo it will not live for long unless you're running 8psi of boost.

You may need no restrictor at all based on your oil pressure at the inlet....if you do, here's a good place to start:

hey jusmx141 i just got a PTE 6262 billet with journal bearing ad i want to continue using my head location oil feed...do think i will need a restrictor so i dont blow the turbo ...let me know asap as i will be installing the turbo this weekend and would need to get that retrictor...thanks dude :D
 
I called precision yesterday b/c I just bought a pte-5857 turbo non bb. I was told that you have to feed the turbo from the ofh not the stock head location b/c of the oil pressure. I have been looking for the oil feed kit my self. I looked at sbr,stm,and few others. I really can't seem to find the right line b/c they all come with bango fitting is what I have now so if I find something I will post it.

You'll want to use the filter housing for your feed unless you check the pressure at the head and see no less than 25psi of oil pressure while the turbo is under load at low RPM.

Adding a restrictor to the filter housing source may be necessary if you're seeing oil pressure in excess of 65-70psi at wide-open throttle.

Ok im going to make sure the same thing here.As you told this guy ^^ he should run a .078 retrictor im guessing ,on his turbo if oil psi is over 70psi from the oil filter housing. Then Here is a little story for you. I was running a sc5031e and didnt even have 2,000 miles on it and it blew .Now keep in mind im ruinning a might max unported oil filter housing witch should be ok right?? as long as im reving the car out at like 8,000 rpm ? What i was told by a well known dsmtuner friend of mine. Also im not running BS ,oil psi has maybe hit around 85 to 90 , is that to high?? Where should oil psi be at on a norm anyways? So what happend with the turbo was the compressor wheel hit the compressor housing and stopped .There for bye bye turbo.The motor has 600 miles on it. And i foundout after the turbo blew that the oil returnline was pinched almost closed . I dont remember it looking that bad when i installed it but guess i was wrong. That will not happen again . Im sure that didnt help anything at all. I thought that was the reason my turbo blew witch might very well have been . But i thought it wasn`t getting eough oil so.Now with that turbo gone i picked up a sc6162e journal bearing. That a friend of mine got new and put around 4,000 miles on it with no Bs oil off of a unported 90 oil filter housing and NO retrictor. And turbo didnt blow any oil and dosent have any shaft play. And now im scared as what to do. I know these are Silly questions to be asking so that i do the right thing this time. I do not want to have a blown turbo 2,000 miles later again LOL . If you could answer the questions i have asked and help me that would be great . Thanks alot for your time and help.
