I checked it out on the PTE website, really just says 590HP. Its a SCM6031 mitsu flanged

1. Is that WHP?

2. At what PSI is this achieved? Really want to know what to expect outta pump gas (93) for starters.

3. Will I even be able to get that HP outta this turbo without going de/stroker?

I am asking because I can get it for $100 blown. PTE quoted 280-300 for a complete rebuild, its a $900 turbo so to me its worth it when my stock block blows and I go big. Any insite is much appreciated.

1) Probably not.

2) It would have to be around 70psi :D. My buddy ran this exact turbo with a .82 a/r T3-flanged turbine housing and made 457awhp @ 34psi with 93 oct and meth injection at 10.5:1 to 11.0:1 AFR's, and around 19* of peak timing. Absolutely NO knock.

3) You'll probably never see that much power out of a turbo with a T31 (Stage 3) turbine....it physically can't flow enough.

Regardless, $100 is a good price....even for parts.

That answers all my questions. Ill just save up for a MHI EVO3 16G

I can't see how these companies get off claiming certain turbos to have certain "horsepower potential". They must calculate the HP off of airflow of one particular housing alone, not airflow generated by a specific engine.

There are wayyyyy too many variables....turbine housing, exhaust manifold, compression, boost level, intercooler efficiency, intercooler piping diameter, throttle body size, intake manifold design, fuel delivery, injector size.....the list goes on and on. All of these variables must be functioning at their peak in order for a turbo to perform at it's fullest potential.

I can honestly say I don't know of ONE person who's reached the claimed HP rating by any turbo ad....except those who have bypassed the claimed "380hp" or whatever the ads for Evo III 16G's state.

You'll have alot more fun on the street with a 16G, regardless. Not to say that 6031E-powered GSX wasn't a BLAST to ride in....it just took alot of work to get it there.

The 6031E was also the most unreliable turbo I've ever seen, failing every 800-1200 miles on his car. Don't know if that helps your decision any ;).
