So upon further inspection and more diagnosis I decided to replace the lifters and the timing belt tensioner. Guess what the noise is still there and it sounds like it’s coming from the transmission area. 😢 I am dreading to drop this trans.

I'm curious if those will compete with the stock coils, I plan to keep watch - keep us posted (I like them).
"Following the installation of the new ignition coil, I have observed a perceived improvement in the vehicle's electrical system. Specifically, the vehicle starts more rapidly and the overall operation seems smoother."
Yeah it’s not neither an upgrade nor a downgrade. Other people has had good success with them. I mainly did this to clean things up and my coil pack is 30+ years old.

Pressure plate going bad? Unless you have the twin plate clutch then it'd be chatter unless something has shaken loose?

Side note, glad to hear the CoP setup has proven its worth.

I believe I have everything I need, so I will start pulling the trans next week. So I’m going with ACT 2600 PP, FX racing clutch disc, Fidanza flywheel , 3000gt slave cylinder and oem throw out bearing, plus clips and axle seals. I do have an exedy stage 1 organic disc on the way also since I’m not sure if I want to run this Kevlar.

Update: Today was the day to finally drop the trans and see where this noise is coming from. Boosted Fabrications came in clutch with this trans mounting bracket. Definitely made removal a lot easier.

So I throughly inspected all the clutch components for loose rivets, damaged pressure plate, separated disc, damaged throw out bearing and I could not find anything wrong. Everything was in great condition
After a quick cleanup , I installed the Fidanza flywheel, Kevlar clutch disc and 2600 PP.

Next on the list is to inspect , clean and refresh the transmission and transfer case. I plan to remove all the transmission case hardware and either refinish or replace. Stay tuned

So I honestly don’t think it’s anything trans/ clutch related. After countless threads I have been reading, I’m starting to believe I spun a bearing. I cut open the oil filter and found some bronze colored glitter in the residual oil. It was nothing on the actual filter. I’m going to drop the pan tonight to inspect further. Hopefully I’m just over -thinking since these bearings have about 800-900 miles on them.

Well I think I found the source of the noise , looks like I spun a balance shaft bearing. Found a nice surprise in my oil pan. Lol. Well I’m definitely a believer of a bs delete now. Suggestions on what my next course of action should be? I have a month to get the car back up.

Do the balance shaft delete, make sure to clean thoroughly rhe crank shaft for any material hiding in there, that sucks.

So from your experience , do you think this block is reusable. All the metal bits was either caught by the oil pickup screen or my magnetic drain plug. I’m worried about contamination
Contamination can be cleaned out. Inconvenient, but better than scrapping a block. Balance shaft bearing holes dont really matter. The journal feed holes can be tapped and plugged. If you're asking if this can be done in the car, probably not. A contaminated oiling system needs disassembly and cleanup. Depends on how bad it is I guess and if you feel comfortable with a little glitter.

When getting rid of the balance shaft don't do what I did, either buy an oem one or cut the shaft and weld the end. Those eBay ones will destroy things. I got lucky and caught it in time.

This is why I continue to beat the "delete your balance shafts" drum. But honestly, can't force anyone to do it. Sadly, some people have to learn the hard way.

Thaaaaankfully, I think you skirted disaster. I absolutely vote for pulling the entire engine, disassembling it, and watching a Jafro video on how he cleans his engine blocks, and mimic him as best you can within reason. (Don't bother with boiling the block in a trash can of water, just do the fishing line/coffee filter/earplug trick on the galleys and ports) This also gives you a great look at the bearings and crank.

The cost of some new gaskets is well worth the peace of mind and factual knowledge you'll gain about the condition of your engine.

Plus I'm not gonna lie to you...I just enjoy disassembling/reassembling 4G63s. If you were close to me I'd legitimately do it for free for you. One of my most favorite, zen things to do.

Yeah you are right, I was all for deleted bs at first but then fell into the”trap”. Stock vehicle I vote yes, anything performance related, they need to be deleted. This is unfortunate but I’m glad it happened here instead of on the Dyno last year. I enjoy building engines too, so deep down I’m looking forward to it.
